Makes sense. I mean, if Vince can't profit off these wrestlers having a life outside of the company, why should they? :unimpressed:

Vince probably thinks they're working with Cameo the band. Word up.

Vince's knowledge of pop culture doesn't go past the 1970s. For all we know, he just heard "Candy" for the first time yesterday. :mjlol:

"GODDAMIT! HUNTER, I WANT THIS BAND AT WRESTLEMANIA NEXT YEAR! :damn:"

So I read on another forum that Mike Lowe said on his Twitch that they were told to not use their WWE names on Twitch or Cameo. Basically to change it to their real names hence Paige changing her's last night.

That makes more sense. Hopefully all this outrage is overblown.

That makes more sense. They might want to emphasize what they mean before this story picks up mainstream press.

Rey Mysterio has a show coming on Cartoon Network Latin America and wondered would it affect that deal as well.

Yeah just seen that Mia Yim and Zelina Vega have changed their names on Twitch as well.

I guess the reports weren’t clarified at first it seems and were over-exaggerated.

The vague wording initially didn’t help matters or they could have reversed course after realizing it would be a losing battle in public perception.

I’m assuming this also means that UUDD can’t include the wrestlers Twitter page under their character name during introductions?

Sounds more to me that maybe the pressure was there or conversations was had to make them go back and pivot a bit or change what they are demanding a little:ohhh:

The outrage wasn’t overblown it was just and Vince went :whoa: a little.

Internet reporters exaggerating and misrepresenting a story to portray WWE as a company as the heels? No way.

I think UUDD can include their names since it’s co opted with WWE.

Fightful Select reported that wrestlers reached out to them saying that Vince never claimed to own their real names. Fightful then went on to say that it seems like WWE is just telling talent to stop using their WWE name for unauthorized third party services.

How can you own someone’s name when you’re not even viewed as employees? :picard: They can release you at any moment but you can’t have any side hustles? :wow: AEW and Impact would NEVER.

Dave Meltzer reported on the Wrestling Observer message board that “the straw that broke the camel’s back” with WWE officials in the lead-up to the new edict was Lana’s brand deal with Bang Energy Drinks. She has plugged the brand with commercials on Instagram.

By looking on her account, Lana has several posts promoting Bang Energy Drinks and the account belonging to their CEO, Jack Owoc.

well then tough shyt McMahon.... she’s an independent contractor and can take non-wrestling related work and sponsorships with anyone she wants. An energy drink sponsorship has absolutely nothing to do with WWE or pro-wrestling.

None of WWE’s threats to the talent would hold up. At the end of the day they are independent contractors.

You can’t hire a plumber to do work on your house and then demand to them that they only do work on your house and no one else’s.
