Probably a favor. Johnnie isn’t a favorite for the Cavs job so it’s not like he’s at risk of leaving this season. Maybe they’re preparing for his eventual promotion though.

What does this mean

I got a purely speculative, conspiracy theory that they want to sign Oubre (who just signed to CAA) and part of that is hiring Mo Cheeks who is known for helping emotional players stay calm.

None of the current coaching staff are the type to take a player like Oubre under their wing who can use extra support, and you don’t bring in a player like Oubre without having some sort of plan to hold them down while playing in NY. Calmer guys than him have been shot here or arrested on gun charges.

To add to my conspiracy theory they been looking at wings who should be where they pick in the draft and FA like Jarret Culver and Oubre would be better than all of those guys. If you watch him play his style fits the team like a glove. The only real knock on him is he is a knucklehead, because he showed he could actually play team defense last year with the sixers. As talented as Oubre is…. He’s a JR Smith level knucklehead, so he won’t cost much and the Knicks don’t got much to spend.
