You can download the app on to your TV, and then just open the app with the remote. The TV app is on the play store and it works.

When the Mets are in California, I just set the TV location to Chicago or Toronto to get past the blackout

My TV is a Google TV (both of them actually) and I got an iPhone, and a work laptop, I don’t have any high tech gadgets to run a VPN my nikka

Try it without certain cable companies blocking the app. Or even a simple DNS change on your router might work.
