Go Skateboarding Day 2014 - Gaborone, Botswana
Just a bunch of kids skateboarding and chilling.
Right, and no one is advocating that. It's still their land and country. @Angelic Servers is right though, unless you have family or other close ties in a particular country, one has to be strategic for such a move. Why not help fill-in a gap a country has in a particular field in order to improve it.
Concerning leverage, I'd say it'll depend on what the country needs. For example, many of these countries are trying to improve their healthcare infrastructure, especially with diseases like ebola being out there like that. If you are a medical practitioner or administrator with experience in such a thing, that's something to look into.
Point being, its not about dictating how the countries should act, ultimately, they (the governments and / or consumers) will accept your help / services or not. But the nations need investments and /or talented individuals to further develop their nations. Blacks in the diaspora have that. Gotta find out which country or countries can be a fit for you.
The sad part is that some African countries HAD good healthcare infrastructure but had to tear it down because of the neoliberal policies implemented by the IMF (in order words, by Western governments -US especially-).
And then they say they want to send "help"
I fear that too, I just hope African nations make sure that black natives control economies in their country.Breh you have no clue.. cacs in the club lookin at the women like . seriously though it's about securing the growing economic future of africa. Chinese and Indians are there heavy as well
There's a dozen 'Back to Africa' threads on here. It's nice to post pics and videos but they don't paint a complete picture or tell the whole story. We can't all go back to Africa 'just because'. We need a real strategy....some concrete ideas. Us being Americans/Europeans puts us at a huge advantage over the native Africans as we have money and education. We need to muster a way to leverage those resources and make a meaningful contribution to Africa.
I think it's a good idea to first take advantage of being in the US/EU by obtaining a degree and 'getting your money up' THEN go to Africa. Africa needs more engineers, doctors, businessmen, programmers, etc. In order for countries like Nigeria and South Africa to grow they need foreign investments. Better to have black foreign investors than Chinese/Americans/Europeans. The dollar maybe devaluing but our money still goes a long way in some of these countries.
Can you travel freely throughout the continent with a passport, or do you have to get a visa to fly say from Senegal to Kenya?
