Halo, Last of Us, Metal Gear solid, Assassians creed, etc. Resident evil gave us the blue print. Comic movies will get stale eventually (after Infinity wars pt 2 crushes the buildings ) so i think video game movies will come to replace it. The script has already been basically written for you and this generation is growing up on video games, not comics. Its wide open, just have to wait on the first good one.

Mgs is way too convoluted, over the top and ridiculous to be a movie.

I'd say it could work. Obviously they'd have to cut out a lot of the more convoluted stuff and excess talkiness but the base story is very movie-ish. I could see MGS1 being adapted into a good movie. It's basically about a legendary soldier coming out of retirement only to find out that he's actually a clone created as part of a government project to create the perfect soldier.

John Carpenter said he wanted to make a Dead Space movie. Why the fukk this never happened, I don't know.

I'm probably one of the biggest Carpenter fans you'll find but the man hasn't made a memorable horror movie in 20 years.
His fire and/or vision is a little dated IMO.
He couldn't give a game like Dead Space it's due diligence at this point of his life.

Last of us should be considered a playable movie...it was better scripted then most movies that came out the same year and scarier then the walking dead
