I fell into a rabbit hole watching these youngsters reacting to our music. shyt made me feel :old: af.

I guess I assumed everyone listened to what they now call "old school" 90s classic hip hop.

Didn't know there was such a disconnect between generations. I guess I should have expected it.

this shows you how a movie like straight outta compton can change history, since a lot of the youth aren't otherwise educated

I was kayfabing it but when he didn't jump out of his chair after puns little Italy diddly line, I knew it was fake. My mind still gets blown hearing it and I've heard it millions of times over the last 20 years :russ:

These dudes are used to "Molly...Percocet" lyrics. He probably was not even listening to the words Big Pun was saying, or they were too fast for what he's used to.

Or he probably doesnt know what Little Italy is, or the word "riddled" as it pertains to the double entendre of the rhyme.

I turn 29 this year and his videos made me feel :flabbynsick: because I underestimated the lack of classic 90s hip hop knowledge of the Gen Z generation compared to mine (Gen Y) lol. But it makes sense because we actually grew up on it though. I've been enjoying watching his videos these past few weeks.

I don't believe breh never heard some of these songs. His channel blew up over listening to rap tracks for the first time (it's a trend on youtube) so he's going to cater to that.

I can buy never listening to Nas or Mobb Deep or Big Pun but not every single song that he is reacting to.

He gets more hits by listening to classic 90s tracks (the ones his fans are suggesting on the comment section), so saying he's never heard "Gin and Juice" and pretending that it's his first time ever really listening to it it is more appealing than it would be if he admitted to hearing it a bunch of times.

:sas2:

He ain't get the 'Hawaiian Sophie' reference.....but he will.

while MOST older hip hop is relatively timeless, this song shows how important context is. listening to it in 2018, without context might be :manny:

but in 2001 it was :gladbron: especially if you understood the references.

i love being an 80s baby :blessed:
