Victor Wembanyama is playing away from the basket, and I am concerned.

In his rookie season, almost 50% of Wemby's shot attempts came inside of 10 feet from the basket.

Early on this season, that number is down to 36%.

While I think Wemby has value playing all over the floor, I am worried that the Spurs are wasting his talents by allowing teams (or allowing Wemby himself) to be bullied into playing like a jump shooter.

Certainly I'm not looking for Wemby to have an allergy to outside shooting like Zion Williamson.

But a man of his size has to impose his will near the basket.

Am I wrong? Overreacting?

Something to monitor, but I'm curious to see how Wemby responds to the criticism when the Spurs have real expectations.

He could be like KAT and go, "I work on this shot, I'm going to take it" or he could pivot and be a menace in the paint. We'll see which path he goes down.
