"There it is!"

I keep meaning to make a thread on how these programs and institutions really work. I think even the cynical among this board would find some of the details chilling, man. The grift is next level. And the same people who can draw from never-before-tapped reserves of passion and scorn to castigate players for wanting like 5-7Gs would be happy to shake hands with the actual grifters, look them in the eye, and say "I'm so honored to meet you." People are lemmings.

So an athlete being lazy and not taking advantage of any education he chooses is a reason to pay players?:mindblown:

No the value placed on that education is random Bullshyt...The education for anyone who pays it is only worth as much as people are willing to spend for it...It's not an actual product that appreciates....Its just a block check...

Outside of certain degree fields Medical etc the rest of that shyt is a Goverment backed racket of the highest level.

If u pay for your own education, bills, food, etc u would know how valuable it would be to have all of that for free. And your earning power doubles with a degree from a top university vs not having a degree..I don't get how some of y'all are throwing that away like its nothing
No one thinks it's nothing but for these top earners it's not enough. This shyt reminds me of the anti weed arguments. You always hear shyt from them like we don't want the kids smoking or we don't want people driving after smoking lol. We know the free education and exposure has value but it's not even close to what it should be.

Don't fall for this propaganda either. There is no free education for a significant portion of these students. How people don't understand this in 2017 - despite countless exposes, studies, books, and common sense - speaks only to obstinance, contempt, or stupidity. In some cases all 3 at once.

Not really. If u go into a smart field and work ur ass off then it will definitely pay off. Its the people that fail to do one or the other that end up not getting the most out of it.

I agree to an extent with some of those degrees. There are only 4-5 fields I would go into expecting to get a good job. But thats plenty so yea no excuses tbh. So many ppl would kill for a free education to literally ANYWHERE in the country and any program at that school...

Ok so what do u purpose that they just pay the top guys and the rest get nothing? How do u think that would work? Like I've said a few times now it would just be unfair the top programs would dominate even more.

What does the weed argument have to do with this lol

Because you're overestimating these athletes benefits.
How so?

i agree with paying for athletes but y'all acting like they are modern day slaves.

d1 n1ggas live like kings on campus for 3-5 years. not to mention not graduating with 30k of student loans having to make $500 monthly payments and shyt.

in addition, bball and football (and to a lesser extent, baseball) are the money generating sports.yeah, places like alabama / lsu / ohio state and them blue bloods prob could afford to pay ALL their athletes. but what about mens golf at Kent St or some shyt?? volleyball at davidson?

and the argument in the OPis dumb. yeah, most likely dudes are gonna blow straight thru their money like military dudes when they get their stripends and buy mustangs and shyt. Thats what young guys do...
They make Universities 9 figures. It's not like they are just making the school 1 million dollars. Thru make the school nearly a billion dollars.

If they want a free education they can join the military....These schools at the end of the day are a business some are degree mills some are money traps and at the end what you get for it is a shiny degree that may allow you to be hired.

And I'm not trying to disparage those who believe that education is of value monetarily but I'd venture to say that the block you checked off simply having the degree is of far more value...

But don't mind me I feel the same about religion some people have an inherent need to believe a higher power governs all and some don't.

The top athletes would be the only one's getting paid anyway.. U realize how small of a % of players would actually be getting paid? The huge majority would be getting fukked even worse than they are now...

I think "how would this work" is such a bullshyt question. The same way football coaches end up making more than volleyball coaches....that's how it would work.

The idea that all student athletes are equal is bullshyt. Even in high school I knew the star players were worth more than me lol
This. Pay them, clearly most colleges can't pay but let's be real, most colleges aren't paying students unless they are damn good and it should be the same here. If UGA can pay 200k and Troy can only pay 5k, get good enough to star for UGA. You can't get an elite developer for 35k anywhere in the US but you can get a Black one with hardly no experience for that price in small town USA.

Pay players based on their value

Please dispute anything I have said. Would love for u to explain how a school is supposed to pay a player with money that they don't have. Can't wait

I'd discuss this with you if I had even the slightest bit of faith in you being able to admit you know nothing about how a university, a major football program, capitalism, and double-talk actually work. But clearly it would just amount to me providing facts, reason, and context and you posting cliche talking points and simplistic, irrelevant questions like "if one man is pain x, how can another be paid y?" while tossing in the occasional emoticon.
Elite posting.

@JALEN HURTS, shut up you stupid c00n
