No they wouldn't. First of all, Schools are limited to how many roster spots they can provide. There are plenty of athletes that would take less money elsewhere if it A. means they could play in a geographic location of their preference (i.e. close to home, weather, city, etc) B. Means they'll get playing time so they can then have an opportunity to go to the Professional level and get paid even more. C. Why so you keep thinking only the current Powerhouses are the ones who have the ability to pay to play? No, those are just the schools willing to bend the present rules against pay to play. If you remove those rules they'll be FAR greater schools, alumni, organizations, businesses, etc willing to take the risk. Let''s say the average Alabama athlete gets paid $50,000. Over an 80 man roster that's $4,000,000 a year. You think other schools won't be able to muster up $4,000,000 a year if it means they have an opportunity of making back $50,000,000 a year??

But why do you keep ignoring the fact that BIG Time programs are already skirting the rules and paying athletes?

I worked in my school's athletic department. Do you think it's just a coincidence every football player majors in Communications, Criminology, Criminal Justice, and Sociology?
Athletes get degrees, but what does that mean?
College athletes cluster majors at most schools - USATODAY.com

Show me one place where I ignored big schools skirting rules. My 1st sentence in my post said erreybody was riding Merros :dead:
Comprehension ain't your friend is it?

If athletes would so easily take less money to play elsewhere why do they still pile into the same top schools only to be redshirted and have someone come in for their spot the next year? Do these programs offer something that others don't?:jbhmm:
I got a home girl who coaches volleyball she says she got girls passing up schollies (money) cause they feel they're too good for the school but they don't have any other offers :dead:
There's a reason every school doesn't pay 4 million a year cause 1 not every alumni base cares about it like that 2 most aren't making money that you would think to be able to give money to ALL sports.
And have you met a college athlete? You worked in the department so I'll take it you have, a lot of these cats are imbeciles they get placed in the easiest majors possible to keep them eligible and in school period. Cause lord knows a lot of them wouldn't even be in school if it weren't for their athletic abilities.

OK well then they should just put a logo or mascot on the field or court and it should be all good.

How much was Grant Hill worth? Coach K won after him. How much was JJ Reddikk worth? Coach K won after him too. How much was Greg McElroy worth to Alabama? Aj McCarron? Jake Coker?
Diana Tuirasi to UConn? Any other chick to UConn hoops? They seem to be doing just fine without them.
But hey I'm just being realistic and not going to the most irrational thing possible to make a point :hubie:

The way you are framing it the logos can go out there and do it themselves sure prestige is important but you have to have the players do the work still.

I didn't say the players are valueless I said yall are over valuing what they mean to SOME programs. Which is why I named an outlier Johnny Manziel and tamu and even then they always have put a lot of money into their program but he took them to another level. But yall are acting like every player is a Johnny 8 when he and your few are not the norm.

In all honesty, an amateur football league should be created. NCAA opposes this because it would end their sweet pot.

Isn't share cropping illegal! That thing where you compensate someones labor with food and shelter?

The only way student athletes shouldn't be paid, is if all the money is removed from collegiate sports period. No television deals, etc. Coach salaries should be the same as high school coaches. In the name of capitalism this is what it should be!

Their free education, housing and meals is worth hundreds of thousands.

But it's not free. They get it because they have a contract with the university (athletic scholarship) to perform a certain task (play sport X)

If the athlete loses said scholarship to play said sport does he still get to go to class for free?

Does he stay in housing for free?

Does he eat for free?

I never really understood the "for free" argument. "For free" means you do not have any type of agreement with the college to do anything and you still stay and eat and live for free.

And I hope this fukking dude didn't waste tax dollars to come to the conclusion that white people don't like to pay black people very much of anything for services...

nikka could have just watched the new england patriots operate from march 8th until april 8th to find that out
