That's how Joe talks...always has been. That's how he is interviews, that's how he is on his albums, that's how he is on his live. It wasn't fake hostile...he talks HEAVY HEAVY. And that's he & Ja's relationship...and Irv. They crack 80s offensive jokes. This was standard for us Generation X hood kids growing up.
I know what you're talking about, and he was way more over the top verzuz night

like these

don't sound forced as he was on verzuz.

They got all the Joey crackisms of his great storytelling and was natural.

I know the and ja are friends and shyt, so maybe why it sounded extra forced. I'm sure they cracked jokes like you said, but shyt didn't sound natural from him that night (especially since he apologized the next day for the shyt he said about mo, vita, etc). Ja's jokes did sound natural though.

But they responded to it. There wouldn’t have been a peep out of the Joe/Ja crowd.
The cultural sensibilities and points of reference were different.
Hey maybe the crowd was just there to see ja what do I know

but fat joe is not jadakiss let’s be clear

I bet you jadakiss coulda worked that crowd as well

Fat joe was not going to win a versuz battle against ja rule under any circumstances imo

I haven't seen it all. But from what I saw Joe doing his Big L track and a bunch of hardcore, classic, respectable joints - looking dope army green etc - what's terrifying is even cats saying here - fukk those joints Ja came through with the hits - and the crowds eating that up?

Nah. When Ja came out the indie scene and artists like Fat Joe put out incredible hip hop. None of us were listening to Ja Rule except for waking to his music on the radio.

Something is off with hip hop fans.

How does Boom Bap not sound amazing, hard and taking the win over soft songs?

It's my perspective. But I want the general hip hop consensus to go with Fat Joe or that type of rap in general.

We gotta save hip hop. It's serious.

it depends on the crowd and fans. The reason that the LOX and Dispet worked with the lox taking it with their hard records is because the fan base there are into the gritty sh*t. That was the vibe of the night. If you pair a popular artist that had MAJOR HITS and resonated with the fan growing up, you're going to have that type of environment. It all depends on who you pair up. I can promise you that if you had Pusha T vs Jadakiss, it would be way different.

Idk if posted already it Hot 97 was hating on Ja hard :hhh:

Awful breakdown, cant believe they caping for Joe for Still not a player with ludicrous excuses ("he discovered Pun" smh).
Also, the issue with this recap is that they go records vs records exclusively but forget the main part of verzuz is the performance. This makes the breakdown meaningless.

Songs for songs, Fat Joe washes Ja obviously but not because of his own verses. He has great beats and great features and that's what makes his songs nice. Ja might be a singing rapper but his hits were his 100%. Even when Ashanti or Lil Mo comes out, he's the one driving the thing. When Remy Ma comes out, who checks for Joe lol ?

The crowd doesn't matter. It's song vs song and ja songs are trash to me

Im saying imo. I never let the crowd influence me

these aren't song for song battles anymore though...in these event verzuz, they gotta rock the crowd. if the crowd ain't rocking, what type of emcee are you really?

you can say the crowd won't influence you, but you gotta see how the emcee is rocking them.

if it's shytty, you really gonna give them the W cause their song is "better" ?
