I think some of you man are taking this versuz shiit a little too serious
I know what you're talking about, and he was way more over the top verzuz nightThat's how Joe talks...always has been. That's how he is interviews, that's how he is on his albums, that's how he is on his live. It wasn't fake hostile...he talks HEAVY HEAVY. And that's he & Ja's relationship...and Irv. They crack 80s offensive jokes. This was standard for us Generation X hood kids growing up.
Hey maybe the crowd was just there to see ja what do I knowBut they responded to it. There wouldn’t have been a peep out of the Joe/Ja crowd.
The cultural sensibilities and points of reference were different.
I haven't seen it all. But from what I saw Joe doing his Big L track and a bunch of hardcore, classic, respectable joints - looking dope army green etc - what's terrifying is even cats saying here - fukk those joints Ja came through with the hits - and the crowds eating that up?
Nah. When Ja came out the indie scene and artists like Fat Joe put out incredible hip hop. None of us were listening to Ja Rule except for waking to his music on the radio.
Something is off with hip hop fans.
How does Boom Bap not sound amazing, hard and taking the win over soft songs?
It's my perspective. But I want the general hip hop consensus to go with Fat Joe or that type of rap in general.
We gotta save hip hop. It's serious.
How you score it?Ja Rule won this pretty handedly.
Perception and reality is a crazy thing.
I disagree with this, but you could be right.Fat joe was not going to win a versuz battle against ja rule under any circumstances imo
Idk if posted already it Hot 97 was hating on Ja hard![]()
Awful breakdown, cant believe they caping for Joe for Still not a player with ludicrous excuses ("he discovered Pun" smh).
Also, the issue with this recap is that they go records vs records exclusively but forget the main part of verzuz is the performance. This makes the breakdown meaningless.
Songs for songs, Fat Joe washes Ja obviously but not because of his own verses. He has great beats and great features and that's what makes his songs nice. Ja might be a singing rapper but his hits were his 100%. Even when Ashanti or Lil Mo comes out, he's the one driving the thing. When Remy Ma comes out, who checks for Joe lol ?
The crowd doesn't matter. It's song vs song and ja songs are trash to me
Okay, breh
Only a bytch would let a crowd full of bytches influence them for a rap battle.
The crowd doesn't matter. It's song vs song and ja songs are trash to me
maybe in the beginning when we were on lockdown, but these are legit battles now
showmanship goes along way
Im saying imo. I never let the crowd influence me
