I honestly think changing the images of what we see of ourselves is the first step to changing the culture.you have to repair the culture first breh.....
Right. Men are the leaders. Everything else will follow.I think this mainly applies to black males. We need to take control of how we see ourselves first as a group. Then mobilize.
I'll never forget my boy's Korean GF saying her grandma, who had never actually met a black person, was afraid of black people because of the images that get pumped into South Korea via syndicated US shows.
We give the shyt a pass at our own peril.
What do you think about black people controlling their own image? Why do black people think rocking european suits will make you respectable?
Ya ancestors aint wear no damn suits
Why would anybody not black just wake up randomly and say "hey, I wanna see a varied image of blacks"This is the age of information in America. Your point might have some merit in locations where ppl have restricted control over media they consume, but Americans have more access to books, Internet service, smart phones, etc. Anybody who wants to see a varied image of black ppl can certainly do so. Anyone too lazy to do a simple Google search of black lawyers or black doctors, etc. Isn't truly interested in challenging their beliefs
If they wanted to challenge their beliefs they would , if they were content in believing all black people are whatever negative stereotype they wouldn't. You could show a bunch of racists the most positive representation of black people and in their minds black ppl would still be reduced to that negative stereotypeWhy would anybody not black just wake and say "hey, I wanna see a varied image of blacks"
That would take awareness in the first place and a concerted effort. Not happening. What's pushed in the mainstream media (t.v, radio) is always gonna have the biggest effect on the subconscious of the masses.
What do you think about black people controlling their own image?
Do you or do you NOT think that's important.
