I asked you a question first

What do you think is the timeline for Venezuela to complete the transition

U dont get to pick and choose who is or isn't socialist..... the people do :scumbag:
Really nice deflection. I'm asking you for a very good reason, I'm not quite sure you actually understand what those terms mean and you're just resorting to the lazy myth of "socialism just means total State control"

There's no such thing as socialism. Everything is capitalism because some people will always have more of something than someone else and they will always leverage that over the less fortunate. It's human nature. That's why socialism is a capitalist trick.

The first to rise above the masses are those responsible for distribution of goods to said masses, after the regime in charge, of course. Americans have no business espousing the virtues of socialism because in America, a worker can become an owner by becoming his own producer of goods. Unions are as close to socialism as we need to get; if people owned their own business they would understand this, but most of you don't. Start your own business and then have Ray The Janitor stand up and tell you that your employees need to be in charge.

Basically, socialism is for countries with a shytty education system. U kids sit here and talk sum socialism when u don't give a rat's ass about ur country or fellow man, which is a main goddamn component in that chickenshyt ideology. When u eliminate personal gain in favor of the "greater good", u have to have unbelievable suffering and tragedy for prolonged periods of time to galvanize the populace behind a politically feasible concept of said greater good. We are nowhere near that lvl and won't be as long as we keep shoveling bullshyt "greater good" ideologies to countries we either want to neutralize militarily or take advantage of economically.

I agree with a lot of what you say but this bothered me:

As someone that had a small business....no....just no. You can't be a producer of your own goods because you face barrier to entry and barriers to obtaining capital. For crying out loud one of the greatest business science scholars has stated that part of the success of business is to make sure you prevent new entries into your market (Porter's 5 Forces). This means as a business your job is to make sure that the worker can't become a producer of goods.

I wish people would stop trying to advance this myth, if you want to be an entrepreneur it takes a lot of capital, thinking a bit abstractly, and whole lot of people skills. If you are black or Latino, that is twice as hard. In fact I think only 8-10% of venture capital goes to black businesses and like another 8% go to Latino business in the Venture Capital market. You also got to love your business and never take a day off.

Venezuela labels ex-prosecutor Nieves a 'thug'

Image captionDiosdado Cabello (centre) dismissed allegations made by Mr Nieves, saying he had been bribed
The president of Venezuela's National Assembly has labelled Franklin Nieves - a former prosecutor who has said the judiciary convicted an innocent man - a "thug" and a "traitor".

National Assembly head Diosdado Cabello also alleged that Mr Nieves - who has left the country - had been bribed.

Mr Nieves was a prosecutor in the trial of opposition leader Leopoldo Lopez - a trial he now calls a sham.

He says Mr Lopez, who was sentenced to almost 14 years in jail, is innocent.

'Guilty conscience'
Mr Nieves left Venezuela last week for the United States and has been telling international media that Mr Cabello ordered the arrest of Mr Lopez to make sure the opposition leader was "taken out of the political game".

Human rights activists had long said that the trial against Mr Lopez was politically motivated and that it had not been conducted fairly.

Mr Nieves, one of the lead prosecutors in the case, has given details which apparently back up activists' concerns.

The former prosecutor alleges that evidence against Mr Lopez was fabricated and witnesses were told to give statements which would ensure the opposition leader's conviction.

Mr Nieves said he could no longer live with the guilt of having sent an innocent man to prison and that was why he had left for the US, where he is planning on seeking asylum.

'Bribed'
Venezuela's attorney-general, Luisa Ortega, sacked Mr Nieves on Monday and said he had acted contrary to his oath of office.

Image captionLeopoldo Lopez led anti-government protests last year and was convicted with inciting violence
Mr Cabello, whom Mr Nieves named as the main man behind Mr Lopez's alleged sham trial, said the former prosecutor had been bribed to make the claims.

"Franklin Nieves [is] a thug to whom they offered $850,000," he said, speaking on his weekly television show on Wednesday.

He also said that Mr Lopez had got off lightly with his sentence of 13 years and nine months in prison.

Mr Cabello argues that the opposition leader should not have stood trial for inciting violence but for murder.

He blames Mr Lopez for the deaths of 43 people who died in months of anti-government protests in early 2014.

The 43 came from both sides of the political divide, but Mr Cabello says Mr Lopez - through his speeches and messages on social media - triggered the violence which led to their deaths.

Mr Lopez has always maintained his innocence and is currently appealing against his sentence.

Except this isn't socialism. At all.

Socialism=providing basic human needs. I don't see any basic needs being provided. No wonder no one takes the HL seriously.

Since when does Venezuela have workers owning the means of production? Since when do they even have social democratic policies, let alone democratic or market socialist policies?

This.
