Vegeta's whole presence throughout DBZ been on some "catch up" shyt and it isn't even with Goku.

Vegeta got sonned by Gohan after his fake moon plan backfired and Gohan transformed into Ozaru.

Vegeta witnesses Goku so SSJ and beat Freiza. Then Trunks comes thru, goes SSJ, and makes light work of Freiza.

Not to mention at one point even Piccolo had Vegeta shook when he merged with Kami.

Then of course, the Cell Games. It was pretty much down to either Goku or Gohan to beat Cell. Vegeta showed he wasn't capable of hanging with Cell when Goku asked Gohan if he could keep up and everyone was surprised when he said yes. Gohan was capable of sonning every Z fighter, including his pops.

THEN of course, Gohan goes SSJ 2 and Vegeta realized, even with Goku dead and gone he still was 2nd.

Wasn't until everybody was that Vegeta was able to be number 1 on Earth, but eventually Goku came thru and swindled him into thinking they could be equals.

By that point the Z writers were in full "anti-Vegeta" mode and it was the same story of Goku gets beat up, odds look bad than suddenly Goku wins. They minimized the rest of the cast so much to prop up that dork that it hurt the series. :nawl:

All this back and forth arguing over who's cooler while I'm here on some "I think they're both bad ass in different ways" shyt.

Goku and Vegeta play off each other well. You got the humble, happy go lucky, easy to like guy who's dumb but will beat your ass for sport and/or to protect his family and friends, then you got the arrogant, merciless jerk who's almost as strong and has probably the best lines in the entire series.

Future Trunks is my favorite character, but Goku and Vegeta are right behind him. I really can't rank em....I guess if I had to choose I'd go with Goku. Vegeta got his ass beat a little too much for such a bad ass character. He had 2ndary hero syndrome. Reminds me of Crixus from Spartacus in that they came in boss as fukk and then spent the majority of the series getting stomped out while still talking shyt and managing to look cool.
