I'm sorry but this is some greedy tasteless sh1t... RIP to Kobe and Gianna

clearly it’s not about the $$$ but the principle...the company hired/employed an “incompetent” pilot who was largely responsible for the death of 8 other lives...someone has to be held accountable

now my cynicism will allow me to say that this could be a calculated move to potentially ward off the families from suing kobe's estate which might be a bigger/easier target...I don’t see the grounds for the families being able to do so but you never know...you can damn near sue anybody for anything...it’s just a matter of whether or not the courts will fully hear you out smdh

In addition to the recklessness of the pilot, if this is what it takes to ensure something like this doesn't happen again, so be it. The helicopter should have been retrofitted with the technology to aid a pilot in the event of bad weather.

I read that the helicopter had the technology but that it was “turned off” bcuz of the buildings in the vicinity that would cause the warning to go off repeatedly

anyone know if there’s any truth to that?

I’ve avoided most of the articles/videos that dealt w/ the “technical” side of the accident

Not true. It didn't have it. Would have been able to digitally recreate the landscape.

Wouldn't matter from a legal standpoint anyway. Only the person that is licensed to fly can make that determination to fly in those conditions, regardless if it is at the behest of the passenger. Telling a taxi driver you are late for work and to drive faster doesnt absolve the driver of DoT requirements.
But if it's a civil suit, they don't have to prove criminality

Expected.

Has there been any news if there was pressure to fly in the fog? Like did the helicopter company's owner tell the pilot you're flying Kobe Bryant and it's not an option? Or did Kobe say I want to fly even in the fog against the pilots wishes? I feel like there had to be pressure from somewhere if even the LAPD grounded everything that day

Doesn't matter. The pilot has the final call..
