Studio was out of their mind to spend 200 mil on a movie with dude as the star. He's not cool enough for any dudes to care about seeing him in a movie, and not attractive enough to draw any females...pause

Soon as it was announced I felt it was the type of movie that would need to have big name leads to help sell the movie. Dehaan and Delvigne definitely weren't big enough stars to do it.

It had Bruce Willis and a young Chris Tucker. Coming off good films, Pulp Fiction and Friday, respectively.
It got mixed reviews...some critics liked it while others hated it.
It got a thumbs up from both Siskel and Ebert though.
