I thought the original was probably the most overrated tv show ive seen in a decade.

The first season is amazing. Second season, not so much. The main draw, besides the solid, conspiracy based story, was some of the best visual presentations of any show ever. No surprise The Third Day is so visually appealing since it has the same creator.

I'm watching this version with the mindset that it is exactly that: a version. Plenty of homage is paid to the original so far while trying to do something different. I hope it succeeds so we can get some semblance of an ending to the original, even if it's an alternate reality one.

I've seen them trying to incorporate striking colors without (I'm assuming) the color grading used in the original. When you're essentially adapting a show, that has a cult following, you want to show respect while doing your own thing. If they shot this as a scene for scene match of the original, everyone would be pissed.

Yeah and the television pallette of Americans is wayyy different. So if they tried to do the same thing, like you said, they would be walking into nothing but hate. I am enjoying it though, Rain is acting his ass off, and so is John. The group is okay too, I seen two of the guys before so I knew what to expec.t

anyone who has the UK original in their memory - did the RB character use guns? didn't he have a different weapon of choice? like an Anton Chigurh type thing or something?

I didn't mind the actor in the American version, but - and i'm probably wrong - i feel like him just firing off silencer shots into everyone fukked with a lot of the subtlty of the original. i find guns to be the laziest fukkin thing you can add to any story. i know it's logical that most characters WOULD use guns, but it just always feels like the easiest, lamest choice - "Ehh, i don't know, he shoots people, who fukkin cares, let's move on."

Also, stand by my theory that 9 out of 10 movies that feature a gun on the poster fukkin suck. maybe i'm just too much of an anti-gun p*ssy lib...

I don't mind violence but just random killing of innocent people gets me. Got through episode 2 and I'm done. The 'hero' is shooting folks in the dome for no reason? I'm out

Its amazing and cinematography is beautiful. I have the first 2 seasons and watch it from time to time.
