Mariah Carey's Emancipation of Mimi the following year was a huge deal

It was, but I don't remember it being anticipated like Confessions was. Unless I'm forgetting something, Emancipation of Mimi was seen as more of a surprise since Glitter was such a disaster.

breh, that We Belong together song was in every tv and radio station, even before the album came out. Thats why it sold that much when it finally arrived. They even had a deluxe, special edtion, and platinum editions for it. It was that big. I remember even the older people were fukking with it when it came out.

I'm not denying that it was big.

I thought we were talking about it being an anticipated album. I just don't remember it being anticipated like that.

You're right about it being a massive hit after it came out, though. "We Belong Together" was utterly inescapable. Overall, I remember it being a pretty good album. To this day, I'll still get my bop on if "Say Something' comes on.

I cant confirm the anticipation part of it cause i was still in high school and barely had access to most technology of that time.

Stay The Night was my joint though. :ohlawd: and yes that whole album was crack

I can’t say Confessions was anymore anticipated than Mariah’s album was. No one was expecting it to be that much more successful then 8701. It did what it did because Yeah was a smash hit. Then Let It Burn came out. Plus everyone thought it was about Chilli. Emancipation of Mimi was the same thing. We Belong Together took over radio, 106th and Park, MTV, etc. the same way Yeah did. JD was on one those two years. I know he got paid LOVELY :wow:

That sounds about right, as I remember it. I remember folks were I was from were confused as shyt when "Yeah" was out, but once they got over it, they were with it.

That "Burn", though? :wow: maybe only "You Got it Bad" and the first verse of "Nice & Slow" can compete as far as Usher songs absolutely everyone will sing along with.

Confessions might be the only subject that can start a serious argument in the house between the lady and I. I happen to think Pt 1 is better than Pt 2, and she will petty argue me to death on that shyt.
