I loved the whole album. I think I didn’t like one song, it was like throwback or something like that.

Burn
Confessions part 1&2

Bad girl (when he performed that with Beyoncé :wow:)

My mom made me my own CD without that’s what it’s made for, can u handle it, and do it to me. Because they were inappropriate:beli: but they’re good songs too.

To me, his first two, and more so My Way are his true classics, on a personal level, part of that is just I paid more attention to Usher in 1997/1998, than Confessions, although You Got it Bad was a classic, I think that was the single for the shelved album. 8701. My Way is just so timeless and well produced. The beats on songs like Confessions, don't compare to Nice & Slow, or Slow Jam. He did pave the way for more modern and messy R&B, by crafting the whole concept around that whole situation.

"Slow Jam" beat is literally a re-make of Midnight Starr though...what's special about the beat? "Nice & Slow" is a classic but I'd argue most of Confessions has better beats than that single song.

Part of it is just age, I was maybe 12 when I heard "Slow Jam", I didn't know the original. The production on that late 90's R&B, especially Usher, is so influenced by that Devante/Jodeci style of production, I don't have the technical terms, but the depth of the sound, the instruments, aren't the same as more Rodney Jerkins style beats like "You Got It Bad", or "Confessions", "Burn". They aren't as crisp, they are lighter. Someone can explain this better.

I didn't really know "One Day You'll Be Mind" either. You Make Me Wanna is another classic beat.

Its the nostalgia talking, breh. The man clearly has tons of memories attached to those two albums so its likey the reason he prefers them over confessions

Are you saying that the production on 8701 and Confessions is less crisp than on My Way?
