So you feel that rights should be predicated on how they affect your wallet?
If that's the case why should Black people have the right to vote? They are obviously more likely to elect politicians and policies that are more of a strain on the tax payer..
No I am not saying that. We live in a democratic society. All I am saying is when it comes to making policy everyone who is going to be affected by it should have a chance to speak their piece and have an influence on it. Lets take your goofy logic to the other extreme. Are you suggesting folks paying for shyt like welfare should have zero say/influence on it?
And your Civil Rights analogy is goofy. When the Civil Rights act was in place the black community was at its strongest financially and psychologically. Black people were nowhere near as dependent on the govt then as we are now so there was no evidence to show we would vote for entitlements. We rocked with the Dems because they were the ones who were helping us be treated as equals.
Why not? Your mom put her self control ahead of her obligation as an adult + member of society + as a MOTHER to make responsible decisions. Why should someone like her get full control over how society is run?

Plus people are able to have healthier kids later, and living longer. I think its a good thing.
Most people can't afford to have kids in their 20s these days. This isn't surprising and isn't that big of a deal. I'm sure there will be a surge in births whenever the economy gets better.

I'm glad that my birth wasn't influence by narrow minded people, smh. Poor mom is what I had, but became successful at a (relatively) young age.. currently supporting 7 people... two sons, ex wife, GF, her son, little brother and other... at 27.
I'm just saying.. you can't suggest that any woman or man shouldn't have children. We have enough resources on this planet for everyone's need, just not everyone's greed. Regardless if you agree with that or not, in America anyone can make it.. anyone can be broke at 16 and be blowing money by 25.

Of course you would read a reductionist statement of "poor people shouldn't have babies" from the comments here. I certainly didn't say that. A parent's responsibilty is to create and foster the best environment for their child's upbringing. That means being financially, mentally, and emotionally prepared. If people who are stable and mature but of low income and live within their means want to have a kid they should go ahead. Everybody doesn't have to have a 4 year degree and make 80k to raise well-balanced child obviously.
The comments were made in response to dude quoting Nas' "hoodrats" line. The term hoodrat implies a trifling, irresponsible promiscuous chick in the ghetto. That's why I made the comment about us not needing more "hoodrats" disproportionately having babies and placing further strain on the social safety net, which hurts everyone and poor people the most. So no, poor teenage single mothers without stable income or good life planning is not a good idea. fukk no. There will be outliers who beat the odds of course, but that still doesn't make it a good idea. I know a couple of people who are close to me that were born to crack addicts and made remarkable successes of themselves, but they're obviously the exception.
