Play it with headphones on if you ever do. The thing that makes it so scary is the fukking sfx. You'll be walking down a hallway and hear some sound you sometimes can't even describe to people without sounding like you're paranoid lol, but it turns out it's nothing, then you walk into a room and a monster just catches you off guard. Gameplay is mid to a degree but the setting and tension and mood is legendary.

I just loaded up Silent Hill 1 on a emulator and man, that shyt is soooo dated. The way the main character runs like he gotta take a shyt coupled with the ridiculous animations of the enemies got me like

What’s mid about the gameplay?. It plays like early RE games without the tank controls. There’s puzzles. Storytelling. Shooting. Exploring. I’m confused.

Eh I just felt the combat was something they could've done tuned better by the 2nd game, they tried forreal with 3 and 4 but it just always felt weird to do to me.
