How many people would have watched it if it was only about Jimmy Iovine?
So, yes... I'm going to double down on my comment about behind the scenes people.
@Matt504
Pull your heads out of the sand. You cannot truly be this dense. You think a documentary about how successful someone is or providing praise is going to pull in a bunch of ratings over someone who's being exposed for a crime?
First of all, there are plenty of documentaries about Harvey Weinstein! Giving him credit, thanking him, talking about how he's a pioneer, a force to be reckoned with, the guy you have to know in Hollywood, how he changed cinema by creating miramax and giving films like reservoir dogs and Pulp Fiction (Lil indie films nobody has ever heard of
) a chance.
Once again Harvey Weinstein has star power. Over hundreds of pictures over 2 decades of him at award shows and banquets, on sets with actors and notably actresses (articles talking about who's going to be the next big star) and those articles pictures have been brought back and used against him during #metoo because now all those pictures of him with women actors people are revisiting and saying "Oh yeah well he was fukking her, or wanted to fukk her."
Dude has made some much money, his studio has grossed so many awards!
You do know he's was involved heavily in TV networks and shows right?
To try to downplay his character is hilarious. You can literally say Hollywood would not be Hollywood today if he never existed!
To reiterate he's far from a little known name behind the camera. Anyone who knows movies, watches movies, wants to be an actor, watches award shows, knows who Harvey Weinstein is.
And negative publicity always sells better than positive publicity or a celebratory documentary. I.e your Jimmy Iovine and Dr Dre documentary, or the documentaries about Steve Jobs (they didnt do well either and everyone and their mom knows him as a household name even more than Jimmy, Dre and Harvey combined) and even the Harvey documentaries that have given him praise.
