Lol, you know how it is in Hollywood. Once a certain type of movie blows up, a lot of studios become quite unoriginal with their choices of films.

Word. They're just like the nfl and the nba..copy cat. If one offense or one defense wins championships, look for everyone to follow that. Studio execs are superstitious and still people so they're going to follow the leader just like everyone else

True

The only thing that bothers me about it, is that there was never a time when an NWA movie wouldn't have been a success - sure Dre getting Apple money frames it in a certain way, but the climate was always right - nikkas have always been getting fukked with by the White power structure and speaking out about it and people have always loved NWA. They could have done this years ago, but well - y'know :mjpls:

On a positive note -

If they're going to do the Def Jam joint - Michael B in this scene would be :banderas:

hahahaha what is this

This movie has a very good chance of being made tho because Rubin, Lyor and Beastie Boys means a large amount of the main cast gets to be white

Who else would you rather play him though? :jbhmm:

To me, he's always worked best as part of a duo/ team (Moneyball, Superbad, Jump St, Wolf Of Wall St.) :ehh:

Definitely. He's great when he can bounce off of someone. The funny thing about it tho, is that Miles Teller has that young Rick Rubin vibe and I'd love to see him and Michael bounce off each other again but superstitious hollywood will say "well they did that awkward moment movie together and that flopped. They did the Fantastic Four movie together and that flopped. Let's not put them in this movie together it will jinx us"

Miles Teller is a pretty good pick :ehh: Whiplash is the only thing I've seen him in that I liked him in though.

I understand why they chose Jonah though - he is a proven commodity in biopics and as half of a headlining duo. That's two boxes ticked right there. He's too much of a win on paper for them not to fukk with him.

They already did a semi-biopic... It's called Krush Groove.. that is almost the story of Def Jam and Rush Management

We all know how much the game loves a remake these days, though. :yeshrug:

Straight Outta Compton made $180 mil back worldwide off a $28 mil budget. If they could potentially do those kind of numbers it's a no-brainer.

Not to mention the sales bump for all the artists shown in the movie - and Universal has a foot in both the film and music worlds, so they essentially won't really have to share the money with anyone.

With Sanaa coming in at #1 last weekend and Compton's success overall, i wouldn't be surprised if we see remakes of all those 80's black movies like Beat Street, Breakin', Krush Groove, Last Dragon, etc...

LAst Dragon is already in the pot ..
beat street is pretty much all the let's dance, street dance, honey and whatever else movies out
