I can dig that and I agree that the stakes are high, when it comes to doing these movies right. I thought the Eazy actor was the best thing about the movie, but then again, I don't know if I could point out a famous actor who would have been a good Eazy.
The names on the marquee will give them a shot with certain demographics, for sure - and I think both of them are dope actors in their own right. I can definitely see Jonah Hill with the wig drinking Brass Monkey with the Beastie Boys and Michael B. Jordan smoking dust and partying with Madonna in 80's NY. I think a lot of how good the film is might come down to the director too. Then you're getting into whether it's told more as a New York story or a Hip-Hop story....
Look at the Don Cheadle Miles Davis biopic - he started learning to play the trumpet 3 years ago for the film because he had passion for the role. I don't think I could cast a better Miles, personally, but you're not always going to get that perfect fit.
