Can't we all agree his actions were justified?
That big nose wop shot someone he never met before in the back. I wouldn’t say that’s justified.

The sentiment that predatory insurance companies, health care especially, need reform and should ethnically support people is unarguable and should be universally agreed upon.

So, please don’t attack this guy, who is correct in his statement: the ACA does in fact have a medical loss ratio provision, and it came into force in 2012. I want to use this as a jumping off point for two very related things.

2/28
‪Courtney Milan‬ ‪@courtneymilan.com‬

1) The ACA radically needs to be shored up because it does not do what it is intended

2) United Healthcare is evil, and purposefully so.

3/28
‪Courtney Milan‬ ‪@courtneymilan.com‬

Let’s imagine that you’re the CEO of United, this rule is passed in 2010, and it’s going to come into effect in 2012. Do you say “ah, I guess it’s time to figure out how to comply with this and make health care a more affordable place?”

That’s what people hoped and expected might happen.

4/28
‪Courtney Milan‬ ‪@courtneymilan.com‬

But this is why you aren’t the CEO of United Health. United had a better idea. The rule is that you have to spend 80% on medical care, which includes pharmaceutical benefits.

What if you created a separate entity which WAS your pharmacy?

bafkreihsopjyfdgt7eg74jjhh6ac5u5wfepfnwbxlc4b2v3ulffs5lex3y@jpeg

5/28
‪Courtney Milan‬ ‪@courtneymilan.com‬

And what if that separate entity could charge you whatever you needed it to so that you were spending 80% on those pharmacy benefits? And what if you then just didn’t negotiate with your entity for good pricing, and instead, just used it as a massive profit center?

6/28
‪Courtney Milan‬ ‪@courtneymilan.com‬

That is what United did.

Since then, United has enthusiastically purchased doctor groups, hospitals, and other entities with whom it contracts so that it can soberly say “yes, I meet the 80/20 rule” while collecting the profits on the medical side of the equation.

7/28
‪Courtney Milan‬ ‪@courtneymilan.com‬

Remember the hack on Change Healthcare a while back? How small offices couldn’t get reimbursement from United and were threatening to go under?

Remember how United very “kindly” offered to “purchase” many of those small offices to help them stay running?

8/28
‪Courtney Milan‬ ‪@courtneymilan.com‬

United is fukking evil. Evil to their bones.

If you hate health insurance, you hate this guy. It you don’t hate health insurance, I envy you; you’re one of the lucky ones.

9/28
‪Courtney Milan‬ ‪@courtneymilan.com‬

I’m not saying this guy deserved to be assassinated. He didn’t.

He deserved to be tried by a jury of his peers, fined all of his money, and to be put in jail for a very long ass time for antitrust law violations as well as the medical murder and suffering of far too many.

10/28
‪Courtney Milan‬ ‪@courtneymilan.com‬

And we deserve to have a government that will actually rein in this kind of evil, instead of celebrating that the line went up on the backs of those who went bankrupt or died because United took their money and didn’t give them what they needed.

The bottom line (to coin a phrase) is that health care insurance companies provide exactly one service: To skim billions of dollars from the medical needs of Americans. They provide zero medical care for anyone.
Get rid of them all and run the healthcare system like 90% of the rest of the world.

A great and informative thread, thank you.

My first thought about the murder was "look for someone who has suffered or had a loved one suffer from UH policies; alternatively, and possibly more likely, a disgruntled current or former employee."

13/28
‪Heidi (she/her)‬ ‪@hortusdeliciarum.bsky.social‬

But does that actually narrow down the pool, is the real question...

14/28
‪Lisa Hirsch‬ ‪@lisairontongue.bsky.social‬

Nope.

At the end of the above thread I complained about not being reposted, but foolishly tagged people. That was inconsiderate & the tags have been removed.

Do remember though, folks, likes do not advance visibility on this platform, only reposts and quote posts do.

So what I’m hearing is that UHC will now start buying up executive protection companies.

This country is currently going through a war between the Rich and Poor. Take a look at the Real Estate Industry. High cost of housing is due to RICH INVESTORS buying up all the property to drive prices UP. 6 Years ago, they sued the Real Estate Industry for Colluding to Price Gauge. (more)

20/28
‪Mary🌊‬ ‪@givinggarden.bsky.social‬

The claim was violation of Sherman Anti Trust Laws. The RE Industry SETTLED and said we'll change how we do things EVEN though what they were doing was to PROTECT American Buyers. As part of the Settlement, ALL BUYERS including investors must sign a Buyer Agency Agreement. 48 Hours before (more)

21/28
‪Mary🌊‬ ‪@givinggarden.bsky.social‬

before Hearing to set the NAR Agreement, the DOJ came in and tried to block it because it hurts investors to have to have a Buyer Agency Agreement. RICH INVESTORS are trying to tear down the Real Estate industry and take away ALL CONSUMER PROTECTIONS we have.

They are doing this to ALL INDUSTRYS.

Hi Courtney,
The skeet you quoted was deleted. I know it's not fair to assign homework, but could you kinda summarize what that quoted/deleted skeet said? I'm just needing a little more context. Please & thank-you, kindly.

Happen to remember the account that posted the original skeet? It's a damn shame they felt the need to delete. I wanted to give them a follow.

Is it easier to dikkride the killer or vote for candidates who support patient-centric changes to our healthcare systems???

Half the folks sucking the killer’s dikk voted for Trump. Possibly even the killer himself.

Performative ass outrage.

So, fukk y,all…

:snooze:
Given the choices presented at each election, at least of candidates with a real chance of winning and not some 3rd party outlier, it is easier to dikk ride a killer than elect a candidate who would support positive change for the people.

Look at how ACA protected these insurance companies. Democrats are pandering to these companies as much as the MAGAts

you're under the assumptions that these healthcare companies would act differently under a different party.

And you are under the assumption that healthcare companies will act differently after this killing. They literally carried on with their meeting without giving a fukk.

Legislation needs to be enacted not dikkriding and killing.

look at the fake narratives that people push on this website.

the Democrats were pushing for a public option, the republicans rebuffed it and were rewarded for it
