Not that kind of action where you need to use coded language because if you use the term "black family/black community," folks will feel offended, intimidated or some other reason why the coded language of "minority" or "people of color" are used to get support from black and non-blacks

Umar Johnson does not have a PhD. He was studying for a doctorate called a PsychD which is noted in the link. Apparently, he presented his dissertation in 2010 but it was not accepted. Coincidentally, he started being called Dr. on YouTube videos by different uploaders in 2010.

Umar says that he received his doctorate in July 2012. Shaquille Oneal has a doctorate called Ed.D. (doctorate in education). Shaq presented his dissertation orally so there is no written record. I wonder if Umar Johnson did an oral dissertation.

I don't really have a dog in the "Umar Johnson" race, but this info is interesting. Considering that both Umar and Shaq "received" non-traditional and non "philosophy-based" doctorates, I guess it's possible that Umar completed a non-traditional dissertation like Shaq. For personal reasons, I don't know how I feel about the strength of those types of projects, but to each his own.

At this point, he's not going to get a school built. He should've started off small, with realistic goals. But he was talking about give what you can and then in the next sentence, scold people for not giving enough. I donated once to his project, but I started hearing him talk more and more and realized that his school is not going to get built. Telling people that their kids have to wear their natural hair and not perms or weaves? I just think he's gotten caught up in his own hype. He's become bigger than his message, just like some preachers. Sooner or later, people are just going to tune out.
