He's a big, body builder type dude that you'd want to have your back in a bar fight, but still humble as fukk. And you're right, he was getting shyt done before ever getting a thank you or a newspaper article. I'll pass along your regards and let him know bruhs on this forum respect what he does.

Watched this video. I'm actually appalled at how unprofessional Umar's approach to something as complex as crowdfuning and creating a school is given this 4:00 video clip. First of all, he seems to be shaming people for not supporting him. Well, shyt man, I'd be hesistant to donate money to a person that hasn't even displayed detailed plans or given a timeframe of when the school will be completed or even provided a report weekly or monthly of the progress (if there is any) or alluded to who possible members of the staff may be or even given a hint at who the building contractors are that will be making necessary improvements. I just looked up St. Paul's College in VA...I didn't know it was an HBCU that has already shut down its doors two years ago after a century of being operational.

Regardless..I just didn't like his attitude in that clip. It wasn't something that I would of expected. Downtalking people who didn't support as "triflin" bringing up that Darren Wilson comparison to make people feel guilty for not supporting him. This would be a good idea if it was taken into consideration professionally...but it seems so haphazard and as many have mentioned it seems like he's not selling the school to receive donations...but the idea. Shame.

Not good. Dr. Umar should be handling this frustration with ease imo. He shouldn't be allowing this sort of stress to affect his mind-state. I'd take some time off and go on vacation if I were in his shoes. The brain doesn't operate well if it is constantly stressed out, in fact, it will start to degrade and have a much harder time healing itself.

I don't like the tone coming from anybody, but it'd be one thing if say, Magic Johnson or even Diddy were up there talking like that. Brothers who have shown their track record of organizing their money toward big business endeavors. He hasn't "earned" his stripes in the business world to be dishing out this form of tough love or whatever he thinks it is. Knowledge of history doesn't have a damn thing to do with being trustworthy with people's money.

And at every point in our struggle, we've had people with nothing who gave what they could, so to be alienating and shaming people that way is so messed up. I'm sure a lot of the $250,000 he raised came from young brothas and sistas who are broke as hell but just starting to get some knowledge of self and want to be apart of something, or regular working folks who can't afford to eat out or go on vacation, but mustered 25 bucks for the cause.

nah, coli was using the word c00n on our own accord. in fact, i didn't hear tariq or umar ever use the word c00n until coli jumped off.
