Bill collectors must be on his ass. This fool looks desperate...

This dude is talking about multiple school districts, he should start with a summer camp then maybe people might believe his stories.

This is what I said in another thread. Dude is asking for donations, rather than bearing fruit now on a smaller scale. If he accomplished a version of the vision on a smaller scale, or at least showed people a business plan, master plan and had some partners involved talk about how specifically they'll help run things and how valuable it'd be, the floodgates of donations would come.

It's like a dude swearing to you he's the next bad ass director, asking for donations on Kickstarter for equipment and a film budget to make the next Star Wars, and he doesn't have a script yet and hasn't posted any examples of his past work, and his plot ideas keep changing. Meanwhile, you got 19 year olds making hot fire the best they can with nothing but an iPhone and friends down to help.

I think if he started with something as simple as a camp or after school program it would be a positive step. Check out this program one of my old head bruhs started with nothing but the time he had when he got off work and some money out of his pocket:

When parents started seeing changes in their young men, word keeps spreading and he's getting press that brings in more donations and people wanting to sign their sons up. And aside from donations, he puts the boys to work with fundraisers to help pay for their dress clothes, meals and college visits. Most importantly he didn't wait for the right amount of money to take baby steps. This is the entrepreneurial age.

With all that said, I would have the utmost patience with Umar's inexperience or shortcomings if he didn't keep speaking to black folks this way. He's trying to do some special shyt, so there's a hell of a learning curve, I'm sure. But if instead of moving into the digital age and getting an online donation system up and running, you call your supporters "lazy negros" for preferring that to WRITING CHECKS IN 2015, or call supporters "trifling ass black people" for not donating enough, it's at that point you're on your own, bruh. Especially because he seems to feel the need to use blackness in a derogatory sense when pulling these guilt trips for not doing enough to make HIS dream a reality. You can't expect people to be patient and let you lead them if you throw them under the bus that way.

The way he comes unglued also shows me he's ill equipped to deal with the obstacles that he's sure to face if and when the school is up and running. NetFlix is the shyt now, but imagine if when they had their controversy a few years back that had customers pissed, instead of making adjustments and being transparent, the CEO said "fukk y'all then" in a press release.

I don't need bruh to be perfect and I desperately want a school like this to succeed, but it's intellectually dishonest to not acknowledge how dude is shooting himself in the foot every step of the way.

Love the motto on his site: WE EXIST, THEREFORE WE SUCCEED!

Exactly bro, Umar could get a store front in ATL RIGHT NOW and start small but his lack of business acumen and then slandering people who ask basic questions is pitiful. Majority of the people caping for Umar have not built anything themselves, those who do have something gave money just on GP but def aint down with the whole yall need to send me money every month crap.

Take it how you want to, but I'll try and be respectful for the sake of real debate and not coli "you're a c00n/ you're an idiot" banter

You mentioned: "he laid out clearly what he is trying to do"...where? He hasn't "laid anything out". He has only said what he wants to do in a lofty manner. Let's say the breh IS a Dr. (which he isn't), why hasn't he spent 10 hours, 5 hours, 1 hour...drafting a PDF with a plan, any type of financial needs chart, executive staff members/panel etc. How come he hasn't put any of his own money up to develop a website ($2000-$5000) that has detailed charts and graphics and a digital model of how the school would look and function?

You mentioned: "why would he give out his plans to the public so white supremacists/government can put a wrench in his attempt to buy the school?" Fair enough, however, his plan is out there already. He clearly is using social media and videos saying specifically what he needs ($2 million) and what he plans to do with it (buy one of several specific schools that he's mentioned). So basically, his plan is already out there. Further, if he wanted to keep his "specific Master plan" within the community, why not give it to those who donate a specific amount? Why not offer exclusive incentives to people so they can feel on board and part of the effort. OR, is this a deflection tactic because there really is no tangible, specific, and educated plan?

You mentioned: He's building an all black boy school/university styled that is hinged on pro black empowerment...Is he really building that :usure:, or is he selling that idea. Why hasn't he started smaller? Why hasn't he built a panel of credentialed and certified black and African educators to stand with him. Why hasn't he written a book and launched a targeted media campaign to generate funds. What kind of educator calls his supporters "triflin"? What is he going to say when a child acts up or shows up with permed hair?

I am ALL for supporting our own - I myself hired a black mobile application developer when I needed one over the Indian and White ones that I interviewed mostly because the brother was skilled and told me he needed to beef up his resume because it's hard to gain traction - so miss me with the "you don't support black people" before hand. I would love to support Dr. Umar (who is misleading everyone already by using that title considering he hasn't earned a Doctoral degree on any level) IF he showed some redeeming quality. Instead the dude comes off pretentious, negative, and uses the same negative optimism tactics that so many other false prophets use.

I am also 100% ok with someone ignoring my stance and donating. To each their own. Personally, I would just need more proof before spending the money that I work hard to earn on this project. If the man says he is a Dr. but isn't, says he is all about the people yet calls the ones who can't/don't support him trifling, says he is trying to be a role model but offering to fight people outside :mjlol: and says he wants you to spend your hard earned dollars but hasn't put his own money and resources up in a wise manner, it is not out of the realm of possibility that maybe...JUST MAYBE... he either isn't qualified to take on such a large project OR he is praying on people.
