I've never even considered Bones cocky though. He's really just that good. If you don't like that then too bad, wait for someone to dethrone him like Silva. But guess what? They hated Silva too and they hated him even MORE when he started giving zero fukks and showboating all the time.

Weidman dethroning him had them popping bottles.
actually when he got knocked out a lot of people were sad. I was on the youtube ufc comment section to vent. and a lot of people were like "you see! why why did he have to show boat" but then it was followed up with "damn to see a legend go down like that hurt". lot of people believed Silva is a demigod and to get KO'd by a useless New Yorker is almost disrespectful. Its like Tyson getting knocked out by McNelly during his prime in the first round, you may wish a champ to lose, but not in that way.

More people rooted for Silva the second time, than they did the first time. and now when you watch highlights people are literally talking about "damn I miss Silva" stupid fools didn't realize he was one of the few that brought excitement to the UFC. you know you were going to get an epic show. Now everyones at the same level, and the battles are gritty and grimey, but there's no god like fighter out there, destroying people.

Currently I see some spark in Rumble Johnson tho. Might be too early, but other than DC, I see something special in Rumble. You heard it here first.

i used to love jon jones until he got more of the spotlight and i heard him talk.

it isnt even about being cocky, homeboy just has such a bland personality and comes off so fake. the cockiness plays into it some also, but idk the guy just rubs me the wrong way.

People don't know anything of Jones outside of seeing him fighting and hearing him talking shyt.
Chael Sonnen used to get massive hate, but now that he is a sports analyst and after people saw him legit try and help people and do an outstanding job as a coach and mentor on the Ultimate Fighter that turned opinion around for him. Rashaad used to get booed til he coached the ultimate fighter and people saw him 'giving back' so to speak.

Exact same thing happened with Charles Barkley. People legit did not like him when the aggressive jerk was the only side they knew. Now he says the same type of ridiculois shyt but people are okay with it because they see his viewpoint and understand him better because he has a full platform to showcase other parts of himself like his struggle to lose weight and his stance on social issues. It humanizes him.

Jones has no redeeming qualaties that have been showcased, he is a stock sports villain like Drago from Rocky... at least on paper. I mean, his only loss is a disqualification for beating a deaf guy to a bloody pulp with illegal strikes.
:deadmanny:Thats striaght out of hollywood.

I don't like Jones either. He comes across as an Uncle Tom. However I also know that cacs don't like him because he's the undefeated black champion. I remember how defeated and defiant these cacs were when Jones beat Gustaffsson. They heralded Diaz's "Don't be scared, homie" slogan and invested white racialist bravado into their Aryan champion. Despite Jones' rightful win, the average MMA fan still wavers about whether Gustaffsson was robbed.

So is Cormier. Infact I don't think any major black fighter messes with black women. Besides Rashad.

The Chosen One's wife is black.

They shyt on fighters of color the most, using all sorts of bias and obvious double standards. They also call him the same shyt they call other black fighters, cocky, arrogant, classless, etc. Might as well call him an uppity nigra while they're at it. Also, I've seen in person watching fights in sports bars white fans get real tight watching him win so how about you shut the fukk up CAC:stopitslime:

You need to cut back on red meat.

Of course he got some boos he was facing an MMA legend. Even then the cheers far outweighed the boos. Bones is hated for being corky a la Cormier . For example when he said Gus didn't deserve a rematch even though he sent him to the hospital. Fight dodging is absolutely hated by the MMA community. It really started when he sonned Rashad and told him that if he wins, he's coming for that belt. A huuuge no no in combat sports if it's not a tournament since they're in th same camp. Even Floyd said he would never fight Broner.
This is in accurate. Mma fans hate fight dodgers huh? Then why do so many support Gus who is dodging Anthony? :sas2: Rashad got injured and Jones replaced him against shogun. The media asked Jones if he would ever fight Rashad and Jones repeated he was against it and the only way he would, would be if he was forced to by the ufc. The ufc has a bit of an monopoly on mma. It's not independent like boxing is. Rashad was already in his feelings when Jones joined Jackson camp, telling his coach why invite possible competition to the camp and he did not want to sign off on it. So when Jones said that, that was Rashad's being scorned. Know your mma facts bro:sas1:

Joe Rogan is right...

I was at Boston Pizza near McMaster University (Hamilton, Ontario) for Silva vs Sonnen 2, and I witnessed a white people be VERY SAD when Silva locked that triangle...

One white dude even tried to fight a black guy who was jumping and screaming after Silva one...It was Black vs White fight...White dudes were RIDING Sonnen hard that night...

I think Joe Rogan is right...A black guy will just never be as successful...If Michael Jordan was white....hahahahaha....He would OWN THE WORLD...

That white skin takes you to that EXTRA level...

That was Silva Sonnen 1 :hmm:

I was at a bar full of white dudes for Silva/Sonnen 2 too tho

Damn near the whole spot was yelling "USA! USA!" in the first round. When he got the takedown everyone was going nuts

then round 2 Silva put that knee through Chael's chest :mjlol: Whole place went silent. After the finish me and my chick was :jiggalol::umad:

Though I dunno if that was a race thing or country thing. maybe both

Jon Jones is American though...

Joe Rogan is onto something...Why is Chris Wiedman called "The All American" guy...When Jon Jones is ALSO an "All American" type of guy..

It is because Jones is black...And Jones only became cocky when the fan base turned on him...

jones just isn't likeable...has nothing to do with race.

people cheered rampage all the time, both white and black. people just loved that dude. jones just comes off as a cocky, semi-hoeish ass nikka.

I could care less if people like Jones or not. I acknowledged the racial under tones within the mma community. Jon Jones is not the typical type of friend I'd have but so would be mcgregor and I'm a fan of his.

I can separate their personal life and their fighter life. Jones had soo much fans before he demolished Shogun and white folks realized that he wasn't the beatable negro. Rampage (been ko'd twice) he was humbled in pride twice. He has personality and the fact that they could say that "so n so is better than him" he wasn't threatening enough. Silva has been submitted twice and had few loses before coming to the ufc. People still complained about him being cocky.

They hated Rashad because he looked like Jones(unstoppable) and was actually cocky. When he got ko'd, that shad face was plastered all over. They were sooooo happy. Somehow they backed him mercilessly when he fought Jones. What does that tell you?

Every fight I'm hoping Jones do something illegal so they can cry more. Brings me satisfaction when bigots and fans like the one above me are upset.

I know people on The Coli were sad but I didn't get that feeling from the MMA world/boards....hell most of the MMA community was picking Weidman the first time.

I remember because someone had posted an article here where the general sentiment was that Weidman was something special and that he was gonna upset Silva.

I was actually talking about the UFC board and UFC youtube channel.

I do know a lot of people were picking Weidman, but a lot of that was all faux shyt, and they expected Weidman to grind him out like Sonnen. Not a damn KO in the second. The way it happened was just tragic and really put a cloud over people, because we knew Silva had him when he snuffed him out in the first. You could see, in both fights, Weidmans spirit get broken when Silva defended the takedowns, he just sorta stood there. Even Roy Jones was yelling "Its over, he's in his head now", but Silva fukked up, and it was just all around sad to see a legend go out like that....twice....both tragic and incidental. A grind out is respectable, but those were just pain watching.

Everyone wanted to see Silva's decline go gradual, not like that, just not like that. After those 2 fights, and absense of Silva right now, you have a lot of people really appreciating the dude. Go to any highlight reel. You might see one lame laughing, but the general census is "we miss Silva"

I know people who didn't hop on the Weidman bandwagon until they saw the event poster and the UFC started the whole "something special" routine they do with these guys. Before that they (the bandwagon) never even mentioned his name one time even though he was on a significant winning streak. I wanna say most UFC Fans are casual (especially the women who watch) and only cheer who they think everyone is cheering. i go out to the packed bars when these fights happen and these are things I witness every single time.

(I digress but) Look at boxing and Mayweather. Why wouldn't you want a guy representing your country to be cocky and undefeated? Maybe because he is black. All that "oh I don't like his personality" shyt is just code for "because he's black american". White people don't consider Silva black trust me. They just say Brazilian but when it's an american they don't say american they say black guy.
