Alex sounding kinda goofy rn. He got shut down by the grappling, hurt and on the back foot for 5 rounds. This wasn’t a wet blanket performance

At the end of the day Pereira had opportunities to advance further and control the pace and he didn’t, he got shutdown. Ankalaev had the perfect gameplan and he executed it to perfection. This is mixed martial arts not kick boxing if you don’t want to score for control time and clinch dominance go watch some other sport.

Frankly IDK why more fighters don't focus on "control". Like you don't even have to land takedowns to win rounds in the UFC, just get a hold of a guy for more than 3 minutes, don't take any bombs and the round is yours. It is and has always been such a retarded scoring system lol

IMO they need to start scoring for defended takedowns.

there is no demerit to holding someone up against a fence and doing little damage and you essentially will win every round that happens in. Its been this way forever and it pisses me off every time I see it. someone can defend 24 straight takedowns but because they weren't able to disengage its a lost round. shyt has always been hilarious to me thats a viable strat.

I can't even think what would be the 1:1 comp in boxing.
