Once Islam gets the title, he's gonna go on a run. I'm talking multiple defenses. Khabib, Silva, Jones type shyt. Not 2 defenses and a year lay off. Not 3 then retire. Not 4 fights in 4 years.

Olivera is my guy. I won $500 with him cause I told people Dustin is good and if patience, skill and talent can get you anywhere, he may deserve the title, but olivera has been through too much to get where he is and as nice of a person and a fighter Dustin in, Charles is +1 in all those categories. I've been saying for roughly a month its a shame one of them has to lose but olivera has got this.

Charles is so much better than people realize. Even after this win tonight. From what I've heard through some mutual BJJ folks that have rolled with him, he completely changed his mentality after losing the Paul Felder fight. He had a deep darce choke, marce choke, and standing rear naked choke on Felder, didn't finish Felder, and mentally crumbled before getting TKO'd. He's worked on his mindset so much and sports psychology since then. That combined with coming more into his physical prime and really improving his wrestling and striking...yeah, he's on another level right now. He's also been competing in pure BJJ tournaments the past couple years in Brazil.

People always paid attention to his submissions and overlooked his reactive takedowns. He's also only got 3 losses at 155, and most of his losses were at 145 after being gassed from a difficult weight cut there.

I think his resume is slept on (I think it'll be more appreciated in time) and he's still better than his resume indicates. He's not a 2nd rate champ by any means. I'd have really liked to see Khabib fight this Charles 2.0 right here. Charles 2.0 is like a refined Tony Ferguson with better wrestling.
Agree with the bolded, all he needs now is the UFC to get behind him and give him that marketing push

I liked that Pena wasnt scared of her and it was Nunes first time back down at the weight for a while. Also all this baby going everywhere with her shyt isnt good for fighter mentality imo

just wish i had put money on her too

I really thought Nunes was a sure thing. I almost put a ton on Nunes, then was gonna flip that into a Main Fight bet, but I held off.

Charles, really is a monster. I see a lot of comps to Tony, but I say nah.

My take on Tony. I became a big Khabib fan during the build up to the Conor Fight and became an even bigger fan after the win. Then came the Tony/Khabib fight and all of that build up. The big talk was Tony was THE GUY to beat Khabib due to XYZ. So, I started giving a hard look at Tony.

And I came to this conclusion/thought B4 Tonys last few fights were he got destroyed. My thought was, was Tony a good-great striker, or did he simply out chin, out heart and out cardio his opponents?

Charles is better in almost every way, other than Chin. Striking is way more precise and the grappling is WORLDS better. Charles might be Tony 4.5, but hes far beyond a Tony 2.0 imo.

It pains me to say this, because Tony is my personal favorite UFC fighter of the 2010's, and Charles is my second favorite UFC fighter of the 2010's. It was such a double edged sword watching Charles beat Tony.

But anyways...I agree. Charles is a much more calculated and disciplined fighter. I think a lot of people compare them because they both have similar body types and use a lot of sport BJJ techniques, and some flashy ones at that. Standing front headlocks into guillotine/darce/anaconda chains, omoplatas, heel hooks, leg entanglements, and things like this. They both get a lot of submissions by dropping people with strikes first or forcing panic shots from damage on the feet.

But beyond sharing a lot of similar techniques and being supremely creative, they are absolutely different. Charles has more dialed in basics and fundamentals. I think he's also a crisper striker, and even on the ground, he was calmy focused on controlling and going for subs carefully, while Tony was trying low percentage subs from the bottom of side control.

Charles is just more fundamentally sound and a bit less reckless. In his prime Tony was one of the most dangerous and exciting to ever to do it. But in hindsight I think he was always destined to burn out faster.
:mjcry:
Edit: How do you think Charles does against Islam?
