Dillion “dikkeater” Danis in full display. :mjlol:

I’ve rolled with Danis. Not in the gi. Just no-gi (shorts and a rash guard or shirt)

Low key he’s a cool dude. He acts like trash on social media but he’s one of the best black belts I’ve rolled with, was humble, and very helpful to everyone. He had really sick heel hooks, kneebars, and front headlock based chokes (guillotines, darces, anacondas...). His back takes were really clean too.

That being said Conor would get squashed like a bug. I have no interest in seeing that rematch. Conor would need to fight at least a couple fights and show some growth in his skill set first.

Yes, Dustin got starched. Yes, Khabib is top 3 most dominant fighters of all time IMO, but Dustin came closer to finishing him than anyone else ever has. That arm-in guillotine was deep as fukk. Also, Khabib rarely goes for takedowns in a way that leaves his neck open. He usually keeps his head planted square in the middle of your chest if he does for any kind of double, and Dustin did a good job of capitalizing on that small opening to get Khabib's head under his arm.

It's total armchair quarterbacking but I would've liked to see Dustin come on top and switch to a darce or Japanese necktie when he dropped Khabib to a hip instead of re-attempting the guillotine again.

I've been wrestling, grappling, and doing jiu-jitsu for 19 years man. Teaching martial arts is my career. I'm a fukking stan for wrestling and especially ground work of any sort. So my bad if I'm interested in the technique shown by both parties. It wasn't the best guillotine ever by any means. Khabib was keeping Dustin from getting onto his right hip and really crunching his chin down to his chest. Impressive defense.

Khabib is the most dominant fighter on the planet. For a guy that has arguably not shown one moment of weakness or vulnerability in his entire career, I was impressed that Dustin managed to catch a front headlock on Khabib, who is known for staying out of those. That was my only point.

On the flip side I would say that this is maybe the cleanest I've seen Khabib grapple. At least in a long time. Dustin hit 2 good switches and not only did they not phase Khabib but he used them to create back exposure.

Unbelievable work as always from Khabib.

khabib took his soul like tsang shung.

amazing to watch.

I was a little worried seeing khabib before the fight as you could tell he was under immense pressure, and dubai is one of those places you can get distracted (them little kids looked like spoiled billionaire kids, really unprofessional letting them get close to the cage before the fight imo).

:mjlol: Conor doesn't want it with Khabib again. He was thoroughly beat down, choked out, and rushed out of the arena.

I wasn't clowning you as you clearly know what your talking about but breh when somebody is that dominant 15 seconds of a fight is seen as a glimmer of hope it shows how Khabib smashes people

Can you give a quick breakdown on a possible Khabib vs Tony?

I did boxing only so MMA is not my cup of tea. Only small sessions of rolling, building defense against takedowns nothing more.
Aw man. Putting me on the spot. I'll try.

At this point it's so hard for me to picture either of them losing, but I think if I had to bet money I'd bet on Khabib, just because he doesn't make many mistakes or leave many openings, and even though Tony has more ways to win than most fighters, Khabib has less ways to lose. And take anything I say with a grain of salt, because some of the things I could see playing in Tony's favor could also be the same things that could cost him the fight.

So Khabib is a pressure fighter, and is a better striker than he gets credit for, but it's all in service of getting the takedown. And his takedowns are very non-traditional. Or non North American. He doesn't do a lot of shots in open space. He likes to rush people up against the fence and chain wrestle. It's not a blast double leg that gets you. It may not even be the first or second takedown attempt that gets you. But if he connects his hands around your torso or even one of your legs, you chances of going down are super high. Once he gets you down he uses creative wrist-rides, turks, and creative pins to unleash brutal ground and pound, and is now showing good skill at working towards the back and finishing from there.

Tony is just pure chaos. Very lanky. Volume striker with more power than it looks like. Slices and dices people up with elbows like a Freddie Krueger flick. His biggest strength is his cardio. he can fight for days at high altitudes (peep his 5 round fight in Mexico City with RDA) and he's willing to fight aggressively from seemingly bad positions (off his back, running away, etc.) He's got more wins in the UFC via darce choke than any other fighter, and that could be a key to victory, since it's open from the same position that Dustin got his guillotine choke attempt tonight. It's a good weapon against takedowns, although like I said, Khabib doesn't typically shoot in a way that leaves himself open for guillotine/darce style submission chains. Tony will also do this crazy thing called an Imanari roll where he sort of rolls upside down from his feet and throws his legs up in the air to tangle your up to sweep and come on top or finish you with a leg lock (see how Ryan Hall submitted BJ Penn in December). Another thing is people like to say Tony gets hit a lot and takes crazy risks, but he has some of the best striking defense in the UFC and gets hit flush way less than people think. He takes a lot of shots on his shoulders even though they look like they hit his face.

I truly don't know how to call the fight. I want to say it will take a disciplined fighter to beat Khabib. But I also wonder if someone as chaotic, unpredictable, and willing to fight Khabib from any position like Tony could have the right ingredients to win. At the same time being too confident in fighting off his back or trying to fight off his back could get Tony T/KO'd. The same confidence Tony might have committing to a darce choke could burn him out and leave Khabib open to take the top position and finish him. His razor elbows could bust Khabib open and get a doctor stoppage, or they could make Khabib see red to where he pushes his aggression even harder.

I hope that helped. Tony hasn't lost in almost 8 years and has arguably the best record at lightweight of all time. Khabib is undefeated in almost 30 fights and has maybe lost one round in his entire career. I honestly can't picture either of them losing would look like.

I'd be inclined to say Khabib but I'd be nervous to put my actual money on it. Tony finds crazy ass ways to win.
