I was gonna drop 300 on a ticket for the UFC 145 (Jonesvs Evans)... but the week I was gonna buy my ticket they fired Chandella (the black ring card girl, and one of the first 2 ring card girls in the company).

Kept my money right in my pocket and never paid for a UFC ppv since then. I watch all their shyt for free now.
They'll never see my money again til they diversify.

They used the black chick to build their brand then fired her and hired a bunch of blondes.

I'm good.

How was she building the brand any better or different than any other chick in that role?

I hear you but what was she doing to sell PPVs?

For the entire time the company was struggling to get into new markets and get state licenses and sanctioned in new areas overseas it was only two rimg girls: Arianna and Chandella. They were with the company longer than many fighters. All while congress was trna get the them kicked off the air and they were getting hated on by boxing and ESPN wouldn't talk about MMA... I could go on and on.
She was with them just as much as Dana or Joe Rogan. For at least 5+ years when they were coming up. Then, they fired her for taking nude photos... but they let Arianna do Playboy and sanctioned and backed Arianna doing it.
:mjpls:

They have never hired another black ring card girl since and its intentional. They decided we are big now, get rid of the black chick.
Look at the Octagon Girl roster... I posted it.

That's not factual. She replaced Rachelle Leah. And Brittany was there around the same time.

I mean big picture I get that you don't like her being fired but are we really giving significant building of the brand to octagon girls?

The octagon/ring girls are a part of why ppl attend a live fighting event.

And its not that I dont like her being fired. They fired her for something they backed Arianni doing (posing nude).,, and the firing was done simply so there were no black ring card girls. Which is why they havent hired any black girls to replace her.

I take issue with the intent, not that the person specifically. If there were another black ring girl I'd have no complaint.
Since 2012 UFC has lost out on at least $2000 from me. Cause I would have spent a G on tickets and PPV parties over the past 4 years.
:yeshrug:

By the way Rachelle Leah has posed nude also. The UFC only has a problem when its Chandella.

Cliff notes? Anything said that was particularly interesting?

He stated that he was physically assaulted one time back stage by Zuffa. He cried during the MMA Hour here. Said he is grateful for the sport and living out his dreams. It's worth a watch because it goes through all of the history up to what happened.

I ain't reading all that but if you think fighters have only just learnt how to strike properly that is just nuts

I think "strike properly" about as subjective as it gets. A boxer isn't looking at the majority MMA strikers TODAY and saying "that's proper technique." The argument Jack Slack made wasn't that strikers before Anderson didn't strike well, just that Anderson added a new dimension to striking via his use of lateral and head movement to bait strikers into over extending. He didn't invent anything, other strikers were using the techniques, but it wasn't such a staple for them. I think you could make a case for both Lyoto and Dominick Cruz' footwork having a similar impact. Another one that's a bit smaller scale is Jon Jones' oblique kicks. Before Jones, there are plenty of examples of oblique kicks but they weren't really a staple of a single fighters' style but since Jones has been using them I think a lot more fighters (especially in his own camp such as Holm) are using that technique more frequently.

To be fair though, this could just be chicken and the egg stuff, maybe the fact that those guys were so successful with the techniques meant we notice those techniques more often when another fighter utilizes them. But I know I didn't see striking styles like Anderson's until Anderson.

The dimension I'm talking about with Anderson is baiting and countering on the back-step. That's the style I mean, it doesn't have to be an exact clone it's just implementing that technique.

Bunch of idiots. The reason Silva can't win 10 fights present day isn't because the division was weak, it's because the sport has evolved. Prime Royce couldn't tap half of his divisions top 10 present day because everyone now knows BJJ. Same with Silva, he came at a time when strikers just weren't that technically sound and would bull rush in, Silva changed that and now everyone focus on footwork and counter punching, picking shots. What makes these sort of guys special is that they are 'breakthroughs" they force the sport to evolve rather than just being a regular fighter.

And Silva is older and slower.

Silva, like Roy Jones Jr., was a fighter that based his offense around speed, reflexes and precision. As you age and take damage, you are going to get slower and a bit more sluggish. And when you break the basic rules of not keeping your hands up like both Roy and Silva did, it's only a matter of time before you get caught.

The art of striking in Mma has improved though . Every generation of athletes learns from the previous ones and improves stuff. Back in the day to me your striking didn't have to be as crisp because your opponent depending your opponent they couldn't make you pay . Nowadays most fighters can tag you if your reckless and more fighters are at least competent strikers
