how? This is the most money making fight in boxing history so please explain to me how it's dead lol. If two lil dudes can generate this much that should tell you boxing will always be king.
the reason why it's so big is because people are starving for a mega fight. There hasn't been one in more than a decade. Boxing used to have huge matchups every year or two.

I love boxing as much as the next guy. Doesn't mean I'm gonna deny that its popularity has plummeted. One fight doesn't change that.

No it didn't you're romanticising "mega fights" like this are rare.

010 May vs PAC
00 Lewis vs Tyson
90 Holyfield vs Tyson 2
80 none
70 foreman vs Ali/ Frazier vs ali

Etc those are the mega fights of that era. People have been saying boxing is dead for a long time, even when Tyson was in his prime lol when boxing stops making money that's when people can start talking.

I didn't say "mega fight". I said huge matchups.

I don't care that the 80's didn't have a huge PPV mega fight. You're proving my point. People followed boxers back then steadily. There were a list of boxers that even casual fans could name. That doesn't exist today. Pac and Mayweather are the only big names and that's why people are paying to see this. A sport isn't popular because of one big fight every decade. It's popular when it's being followed.

I'm not a big watcher but those hatton fights were extremely big. Seemed like all of Europe wanted Hatton to beat May's ass

It's either

1. That guy is not a boxing fan and his saying some shyt he heard on sherdog/mma forum

2. He is looking at boxing with rose tinted glasses.

I think it's a mix of both. When I get on my computer I'll put up some articles from the 40s 70s 80s and 90s saying boxing is dead lol

We had title fights on regular TV over here in UK, Tyson - Bruno on REGULAR TV

I preferred the 90s TBH

Liked our crew of fighters, Eubank, Benn, Collins, Hamed, Watson

Hearnes, Leonard, Hagler, Duran, Holyfield, Tyson were coming up. Holmes was still formidable. 90s was the beginning of the end.

90's era was way better for heavyweights, there were no super fights in the 80's at heavyweight

Larry Holmes was 36 when he lost, nearly a decade of domination and was 48-0 upon defeat

Also outside Hearns, Leonard, Hagler, and Duran

who else was there, Hagler was a middleweight and his biggest fight was against Leonard who moved up in weight

middleweight division was clearly better from the 90's all the way to today

people live in a dream world
