like everyone i love ali but why is it blasphemous to say you are better than him? i saw an interview with ray leonard and he said something along the lines as if you a fighter, you suppose to think you can beat anyone, and with him he was talking about how he feels about todays fighters. so its only natural for a great boxer like floyd to feel he could have beaten ali or ray robinson. i saw an interview with manny and in his favorite boxers of all time he didnt even mention ali. is that gonna be concidered sacriligious as well?
i dont put floyd above ray robinson or ali, i dont even put him above ray leonard, duran, hagler and hearns. to me he is like roy jones, pernell whitaker level greatness, which is super great, but just short of the people i consider more complete fighters, more exciting and had better competition. but i dont think its in any way insulting for him to say he was better than ali or robinson. shyt is kinda sad when you think about it, ali more like a pope than a man and people use that as an excuse to get mad at people just giving opinions.
and as great as ali was, he still probably just top 5 fighters all time, ray robinson, henry armstrong, harry greb and joe louis are ahead of him for me at least. joe louis to me should be more celebrated, cause even though he is, i still think people dont understand how great he was and the time he did it in. and as a heavyweight, your aesthetic is suppose to be knock outs and duke was knocking out everyone.
