I don't see the problem outside of pushing the main film back, this a job and he's a bankable star. If the film is a prequel to when the character joins the main storyline or even just it's own branch, there's nothing wrong with that. Vin would still get paid for producing and more characters get introduced that can eventually get added to the main storyline. Now one could argue that The Rock is dirty for not adding the main cast if they fit in the main story. However, the same can be said Vin if he has as much power and control over the franchise as what's being told. He could have made their characters stronger to warrant their own spinoffs and made them exec. producers for those films if they are not featured in it, if they're a supposed family and all. Make money and help them make money. If you're gonna make a franchise you might as well go all the way.
