Time for me to listen to this…. Today I over heard someone in the streets saying “every song is like it’s own movie” :ehh:

Unbiased review coming soon :unimpressed:

Agreed. Christianity was enforced to keep enslaved Africans submissive and accepting of enslavement.

And to cut enslaved Africans in the Americas from their Ancestral cultures and traditions from Central and West Africa, as the overwhelming majority practiced ATRs that kept them rebellious.

The African traditions and lexical items in ATRs of the Black Diaspora can be traced back directly to specific ethnic groups and regions in Central and West Africa they originate from TIL THIS DAY.

One look at all the Diasporian ATRs confirms this.

BaKongo people, Kingdom of Kongo

Fon people, Kingdom of Dahomey

Aja people, Kingdom of Allada

Yoruba people, Oyo Empire

Anyone that justifies Christianity outside of anything other than
“I just like the theology”
simply hasn’t read enough about Slavery and Christianity’s intricate oppressive role in it.

Opposed to ATRs rebellious, liberating and African cultural preserving function in it.

Haiti being the nucleus of this historical fact.

This is wrong. Slave is just a bad translation of bondservant which was a 6 year form of indentured servitude when it was impossible to pay off a debt.

Christianity reached Africa before Europe. Yes evil whites in the times of the Atlantic slave trade “made the slave Bible” in which they edited out verses that condemned turning bondservants to actual slaves.

Deuteronomy 23:15-16. Jeremiah 22:13.

This album aight to me.

Call me if you Get Lost his best album to me since Flower Boy.

Igor, not the biggest fan.

Cherry Bomb is genuinely the worst album I ever heard in my life. Not even joking.

For y’all that listened, how does this compare to the DJ Drama album? I thought that was a surprisingly good album, as he leaned more into pure rap instead of a lot of the weirdo shyt he’s had before.

I didn't hate CMIYGL (But I also didn't hate it) to me that album was nothin more than a trumped up Gangsta Grillz mixtape.

To me this album might be Tyler's second or third best album, it's a mature version of B@stard it's his most mature album to date.

My first listen take:

This is a deeply and beautiful produced record. It is probably up there in terms of productions with IGOR, but it's a little too Neptunes coded, but it works out. This is his most vulnerable record to date, tracks like "Hey Jane", "Like Him", "I Killed You", Judge Judy; we see a side that Tyler never really shown this heavily, like wondering how his father was or impregnating a girl he liked and the relationship going sour, all sprinkled with his mom being the voice of the album, it's his "Mr. Morale and the Half Steppers" basically stating everything that is in his life right now. His transitions in this are fire, but like someone said, way too many horns, way too many repetitive lyrics. "Balloon" sounds like a damn carnival ride. Personally, I don't think I'll revisit this album as much as like i have in the past with his work, but it's very obvious he took his time with this. My favorite tracks are St. Chroma, Rah Tah Tah, Darling I, Sticky, Take Your Mask Off, Tomorrow, Thought I was Dead. Top 3 St. Chroma, Darling I, Take your Mask off. I'll give this record a 7.8/10. It's a album that I'd recommend.
