Anyone who says black men are at extinction levels is automatically written off. Didn't read past that. :yeshrug::childplease::snoop::stopitslime:

I said this in another Tyler Perry thread, and I'll say it again.
He has made positive films; whether it's "Daddy's Little Girls"; "Family That Preys", or "Good Deeds". Those films got little to no support. So for all the TP critics, go out and support the few positive black movies that come out. Whether you go to black film festivals in your area; or go out and see movies like "Great Debators" or "Akelah and the Bee" when it comes out. Until we're actually supporting our own legit films, we will continue to see the same old nonsense in Hollywood.

ALL of TP films garner support, his popularity has grown since the release of his earlier films, so some have grossed more than others. There isn't a film that he has made where the budget is recouped, and there is a surplus. Check out the box office returns. His films cost next to nothing to make. I actually liked "Daddy's little girls". One of two or three films he has made where he has atleast ONE decent black male figure. But if you think ANY of his films have had "little to no support", look at the figures and then box office returns.

You're right, those films did turn a profit.
With that said, instead of us just shytting on Perry, don't see the films you find offensive and support the legit black films that come out.

After all the talk of TP dissing black men and selling stereotypes every movie, I decided to check out one of his movies tonight and see if this is really true. So I watched Madea's Big Happy Family. The men in the movie were actually the good guys and the chicks came off bad. There were alot of good messages in the flick such as teaching kids not to be disrespectful and how to respect their elders. Yeah there were some hood cliche's in it too like Teyanna Taylors over the top character but for the most part the movie was filld with really good messages. The Madea character was straight up snick dissing all the super religious people too which I liked. Maybe most of the coli hasn't seen this flick because the shyt ya'll complain about wasn't evident in this movie.

I watched clips of "The Family That Preys" and from what I saw, the black man is the 'good guy', too. Dude's a hardworking husband with a dream of opening his own construction firm while his wife was a complete bytch to him, acting like she was better than him because she had money, and blatantly cheating on him with a white dude who also had money.....telling him he ain't the father of their kid :skip:

Later, she gets fired from her job, and the white dude also gets fired and dumps her, and she ends up being poor and struggling in an apartment with her kid.....meanwhile the black man breaks up with her and ends up having a successful business :umad:

You would figure that would be the coli's favorite movie :heh:

large-msg-126815820762-3.jpg

my pops hate this nikka with a passion..said he the sean combs of black film

said he represent everything wrong with nikkas and the black church in general..

and he had 2 films he couldve he coulda went over the top with but he fumbled

alex cross and for colored girls..

and that was the reason why i put morgan freeman > tyler as alex

he took one of the best plays(for colored girls) from one of the best playwriters in african american history....n turned it into women of brewster place with loud colors..

but he can take movies and put his own lil twist too em..

good deeds= pursuit of happyness

why did i get married = waiting to exhale with a time share

this nikka said tyler plays n movies is like goin to a black megachurch...

soon as u go in ..u can sense somethin wrong...women and the queer men outnumber the straight dudes 20-1...then when u see the pastor...u will understand why..

u can goto the members and ask them what they gettin out of it...u wil get :manny::manny:..some may even fix they mouth to say the message...:snoop:

the nikka said the one thing he has learned from tyler...movies..is if ya broad come at ya job actin a fool..n u decide 2 leave....dont speed off n look bothways be4 u cross the street:krs:
