My only gripe with Tyler Perry.

Why not hire talented black screenwriters, actors and directors, give them access to the studios and he can produce/executive produce the films/tv shows they create? Imagine the amount of black content that could be on Netflix and multiple platforms if they had access that Tyler now has. You mean to tell me another black writer/director doesn’t have their own Get Out or Us but can’t produce because of Hollywood politics? This is where Tyler should be stepping in!

I know he does hire black actors, screenwriters, etc but he’s made nothing but bullshyt the past 10 years. The only decent shyt he made came out in the 00s and he makes these clear pandering/stereotypical shytty films and shows. You can go on YouTube and find so many examples of great filmmaking and Tyler has a platform and his own damn studio and putting out this embarrassing crap. I hope he keeps getting destroyed for this.

How do you think he made his fortune? EVERYTHING that he makes is in-house! Meaning he writes, directs, produces, and sometimes acts in everything he does.

They film on his studio lot, so the budget is usually really cheap. You can tell by the quality of the production and actors themselves that the shows/movies are cheaply produced.

His shows nowadays (especially on the OWN channel) come across as black soap operas (Have and Have Nots etc) well imo at least. They're very different from Meet The Browns & the OG/new versions of House of Pain etc.

IDK the vibe of his shows seem very different from his old stuff and his old stuff mediocre but tolerable. I don't like his new stuff so much tho.

Yall must not know old Black folks be eating this shyt up.

My momma and aunts LIVE for "If Loving You Is Wrong" and the "Have and Have Nots."

Those shows are just like this. They love Black soap operas -- and soap operas in general.

Tyler knows his audience -- and it's not them. Its older folks.
Modern day minstrel blaxpoitation type tv series, films and movies are okay, as long as the "old people" like and are entertained by them. :ld:
No reason to broaden the scope of his movies and tv other soap opera tales, creating other more quality content like (mysteries, action, legal based dramas, medical dramas, news and current events, documentaries) with the induction of his new studio?

He's got his own studio and can do whatever he wants but he needs to switch shyt up. Go ahead and do the Madea, swirl, church, and fluff shyt but branch out a bit with a real drama, a sci fi project, something different.

I'm not a fan of Tyler Perry's c00nish material...:mjpls:

But I keep my thoughts within certain circles and stay on code. He aint the worst. Salute the breh overall...:salute:

I hope cats aint startin with the crab in tge barrel shyt...:martin:

I'm trying but he's making it hard:francis:

His audience is people who go to old school church plays, it is very much time that he evolved and tried to diversify his audience in my opinion. But his audience has made him rich,so who am I to say. Maybe somebody else black can just do what he did through youtube and word of mouth. Maybe I'll take my script for my romantic comedy up there to his studios, definitely better than what I just witnessed.
