How do people have enough money to donate to streamers? Must be a white thing because i don't see any black streamers in the top 5 of any game.
It’s cumulative. The average donation is probably like $20. But when you have hundreds of thousands of ppl donating that then it adds up. Also there’s rich donors that donate 4 and five figures. Y’all have to realize these social media platforms are global. There’s how many billions of ppl in the world? Just need to get a small fraction of that to give you $5, $10, $20 etc dollars and you’re making millions.

For example, nickmercs has 8 mil followers

He "only" gets 50k average viewers and 50k subs. $5 per sub. There you go

That's less than 1% of his 8 million

but then his YT videos average 500k views . U see how it adds up

Subscribing and donating to streamers has always been mad weird to me. I remember watching one stream and someone in the chat was basically apologizing for missing a month of subscribing or not being able to donate because they had an unsuspected bill pop up and I'm like you're living check to check but paying monthly to a streamer :gucci:
If your favorite rapper streamed themselves on the studio making music and a $5 donation has them shout you out. Or a few bands they might shout you out on a song. A lot of ppl would pay for that. This is no different. These are these guys hero’s

It's been mentioned, but you'd be surprised at how much of a community is built around these streamers. Folks show up everyday to consume content and chat with other followers. They legitimately feel like they're apart of something and are willing to hand over money for the privilege.

Here's a funny vid that may help explain the phenomena

The Internet is a fascinating place. There's a community for damn near anything. Recently came across speedrunning in video games. And it boggled my mind at the sheer amount of ppl investing so much time in these challenges.

Idk how they feel that way when there’s like a thousand ppl in the chat and your messages get lost in the abyss

I wouldn’t understand donating $5/month to my favorite rapper either. Just to listen to him tell me how rich he is and to shyt on my brokenness? :gucci:

It’s funny, cuz what you described is the principle behind OnlyFans. It’s no wonder that went porn instead of real celebs. Cuz most people can’t justify “donating” to already rich people. The wealth of gamers has eluded the average person so I could see folks donating to their favorite gamer so they could afford to keep giving them content, tho.

They somehow feel like they're hanging out with their idol :yeshrug:

I'm with you. Some of these streamers don't even have a good personality, aren't funny or entertaining but they got a massive following.

We may not get it but there's serious money being made :francis:

I got a 5 year old whose nice in video games. If he keep it up I might gotta cop the streaming gear myself and put him on. There's gotta be demand for a charismatic lil breh that's nice with it :jawalrus:
