TV conditions black men to not like black women

Western media in general perpetuates the beauty standards of white people. It's not just television, it's everything. The sad thing is now we're doing their job for them, by constantly perpetuating white or light skinned women in videos.

How many popular dark black women actresses are there? Ones that are actually still making movies? Brehs I can't even imagine growing up as a young black girl in this country, having cacs AND black people shyt on you. Thank god for Michelle Obama, at least.

consider a country like India. i saw some females posting some messon facebook about how the creams that can lighten your skin or bleach your skin is a multi billion dollar business over there and how one actress finally starting 'dark is beautiful' campaigns. it's not just one race, it's a worldwide problem that the Western world has made acceptable with colonization and holding a certain image >>> another one


there's a billion other examples like this, but like poster above said its not an excuse. know you are at some degree being conditioned, but then it is up to you to try to see the beauty in everyone. the last line sounded hokey but yall know what im saying

I believe that tv can play a role but it's definitely not the end all be all. It all starts in the household and if the black man doesn't have a loving relationship with his mother (because most single black women go on and on about how black men ain't ish and they gon be just like they no good daddy) then they are going to have some resentment to women that resemble their mother which would be black women. Same goes for black women who grow up hating black men.

Well said. It is the same thing in Asia and Central/South America. The lighter your skin, the more "beautiful" you are considered.
