no, real shyt, we COULD find a promising rapper and lace him with the coli family beats. Only thing is we are gonna need people to step up, find me a trap artist and im in that. I think most posters here have different styles but we could work as a team to make something we all fukk with. I just want an artist who is versatile, has a interesting/commanding voice, preferably doesn't suck lyrically, but most importantly shows a natural ear for music. Im talkin give this dude any beat an tell him to jus go. Anyone with promise will show it just by showing how they ride the beat. If a rapper uses the same flow everytime its not gonna work (unless its a new flow like migos r thugga). Another thing is he/they would have to have melodic capabilities, not necessarily straight singing but mayb some sing/rapping like TI always did.

This way we will have sort of a collective, and if things go well we can build from there. With the talent on here im sure if things start to work atleast someone is gonna be singled out as a boss producer and will break into the industry. For this to work we would need to organize things and that's something we have to work on. I know I have the time to get tagged into a thread and say what I feel needs to be done, and I always will make time to collab and get shyt rolling.

we don't need that because theres better resources for it anyway. Plus weve done lots of stuff like that already

:ehh: aight @LauderdaleBoss ima hit you up about that in a few

my ideas for the tunnel:

you guys got a nice group here, you should be taking advantage of that and help each other out on social media. use #thecoli hashtag or @ us on there and me and brook will likely RT you guys. tek is always RTing shyt too. turn the tunnel into a movement, help turn this place into a destination for other artists. cross promoting will help a ton.

i know theres been some projects done between the coli mcs and producers but i think there could be more. keep it simple, a quick little 6 song EP here and there :ehh:

consider setting up a way to share your work collectively. a youtube page, bandcamp or something. anyplace you can promote and showcase each other is good. the tunnel is a good place to organize but honestly you guys should be thinking bigger. we can try to promote threads around the coli to get replies but honestly most of the people on here would rather play stan wars. getting traffic to improve among our existing members is definitely possible but it shouldnt be the only thing you guys are striving for. also on that note, most people on here aren't used to non mainstream shyt so we really gotta come correct with the shyt we promote or else it could do more harm than good.

in terms of competition, maybe do a sample flip one week, then just do a submit your best beat week and have a beat of the week the next, then do a theme the next week. keep it fresh.

once you guys get some shyt rolling, make sure you keep me in the loop, depending on how things go, maybe we can set up a section on the coli music page for the tunnel http://www.thecoli.com/music/
this post here is everything we need to do. I will take the initiative to run something like a youtube page. My question is whose doing the quality checking? I know producingfire and Lauderdale have good taste,an id trust any of the regulars for feedback. I currently make 1-2 beats a day and theyre all my best attempt at making something great, im out of the experimenting learning phase. We need to make sure we have a number of producers who can do something like that if we want to take things to the next level

Breh this whole idea is basically what I've been doing for the last year and a half.

I done dropped 2 solo compilation mixtapes with over 12 different Coli producers making the beats in a wide range of styles.

I even did a Boom bap mixtape with @TEKBEATZ
Did a trap mixtape with @DBR
Did a Wu tribute mixtape with @clanarchy and @BlackDroog

I pretty much always hold down the Tunnel when somebody needs a verse on their beats. There's been threads where dudes would post up heat and that shyt would get ignored until I gave feedback or dropped a 16. I been the go to emcee on here for the longest. Pretty much all the regulars know that whether they fukk with me or not.

Finding a dope promising emcee ain't the problem. That shyt been covered. .

The biggest problem is getting everybody to make a united promotional push behind a dope project. Just imagine if we had 50 dudes retweeting our mixtapes, beats and songs. Just imagine if we'd all post up a particular song or mixtape on all of our facebooks or twitters at once. Nobody ever takes the time to notice shyt when it's just a handful of people doing that, but once you got 20 to 30 different people doing it an they are actual real people and not spam bots, cats will start to pay attention.

We just don't have enough consistent activity and support from each other. I been doing my part and others have too, we just need everybody to do the same. We got too much talent here, not to be influencing online musical trends and making noise.

I been pretty much the only Coli emcee that ever gave a damn about the Tunnel on a consistent basis.

if we r doin a sample flipping contest I don't think we should limit it to one sample, maybe each time have 3 different samples of different types/genres. I mostly sample indie and edm artists, most people here do soul I think but lots also do random stuff and lots of orchestral samples

theres plenty of coli mcs, the battle we did proved that, its just a matter of getting them involved with the producers we got here in the tunnel.

i started a group for the next coli mixtape and honestly i bit off more than i can chew, i just cant seem to find time to get that going. what im thinking is shut down that group, and move all discussions about the next mixtape to the tunnel. that will get the MCs that i already got in that group into this forum and hopefully more involved with things.

i think continuing to push to get the mixtape off the ground is a good way to get some of the ideas that we're floating around here started and to hopefully transition this forum into more of a breeding ground for projects between different coli artists. is anyone interested in kinda taking over that mixtape project from a organizational stand point? i was hoping to give a listen to all the artists and make suggestions on collaborations...for example, suggesting that rapper A and rapper B do a track over a trap beat from producer C and shyt like that :ehh:

The biggest hurdle is to get Coli emcees to start frequenting the Tunnel. That will always be the biggest challenge in making another mixtape.

I try to randomly PM dudes to collab with like I do with the producers and sometimes I don't even get a response at all. A lot of cats be busy or just don't take their craft as serious as the Tunnel producers do. The collabs that I do happen to create with other Coli emcees usually take 3-4 weeks to get finished.

Most of the time random emcees will come in the tunnel and post up their music and bounce because no one is commenting on their project, but that's usually because nobody knows who they are since they came out of the blue and haven't commented on any beats or topics in this forum. You could ask @bigrodthe1 or anybody that posts here on a regular basis if I'm lying.

It's frustrating because this place has so much talent and potential, but even with the popularity of the audio battle tournament, most of those dudes just disappeared although a few still post in the booth on a normal basis.

I suggest for now simply making a thread for MC/s and producers to just say "hey id like to work someone for this type of project", or post a project you have and say "anyone feeling this, wanna work on it, etc. It would be kinda like the post piff thread except with a focus on collaboration and improvement. That alone could breed relationships and start to get things rolling. If everyone watches the thread then it would be almost like a dating site except for artists lol, find your match haha

I stopped posting here mainly because I wanted to reinvent myself. I realized I need to make a brand for myself so I decided to hide out for a few months an hone my craft, then come back a different man. I just started posting on soundcloud again but im not making threads here because currently nothing is popping. If we organize things and get everyone on the boat then even if everyone doesn't constantly visit the tunnel they will be in the loop and know that shyt IS popping. And id love to help develop a rapper, I think a lot of rappers don't try to improve the right way, they focus on self promotion but they have the same flows as before and talk about the same shyt. I think im pretty good at identifying talent I mean I heard thugga and migos about a year before they blew an I knew they would. Its simple, you gotta look at rappers as musicians not lyricists. My brother raps and while hes easily one of the most lyrically talented and creative rappers I might have ever heard, he doesn't emphasize flow and melding with the beat. I been telling him what hes doing wrong an hes slowly picking up on the whole musician vs poet thing

That's a good idea, but that shyt would prolly take to long.

I think we should just handpick the 3 or 4 best most diverse Coli emcees to form a group and make a dope lil 6 or 7 song ep that's produced by the Tunnel and we all just promote that shyt to death.

There's been a bunch of threads in here before trying to make shyt like that happen and dudes would just come and go. They never stay.

Sounds like a great place to start. Itd be cool if those emcees step up an post some verses or songs if they have any. We could first get the beat, decide whose gonna b on the track, and get the verses recorded. Then have someone (idk who that would be) put the verses together over the beat. Ofc we would have hooks. And we also would talk about what direction we are taking the track first. Like I said we gotta rep with quality music so its important we have a core of people who can use their individual skills to make quality projects. I really think if we get everyone on board, or even just like 8-10 of the most talented producers and work with that. Im dedicated to my music career and ill put as much effort as needed to further it, especially if im helping others along the way. I doubt theres many artists who wouldn't atleast try to do that.
