Tunnel fam, any ideas to add some life to the tunnel?

I might be able to help. But we need a couple of people to get this thing going. Also i think @TEKBEATZ and @Tom Foolery would be great mods.


edit tek is already a mod... my man @LauderdaleBoss is one of the most active tunnel member. he could / should be a mod aswell

I concur, If the Tunnel really needs a Mod. I'll nominate @LauderdaleBoss . Homie is cool but keeps it 100 and ain't biased... I remember he told me a beat I sent him was garbage, after we collaborated on a track. @cook

I don't mind helping but I got no desire to mod.

And if you doing battles, we should separate sample battles from non-sample battles. This will give more balance and level the playing field.

We also need scout people on other forums, that's how I got a few people to join here as well.

I feel u but competing is what always brings nikkas out. Not everybody samples. Some cats be on they composing shyt an don't sample at all. We can't talk bout bringing cats together n then do something that everybody doesn't do. I mean I don't care cuz at the end of the day imma listen regardless of what y'all do. I just wanna hear everybody get their shot.

Real talk since I don't produce I'm left out regardless. I'm just a spectator that wanna hear all types of dope beats. At least y'all get a chance to showace y'all skills. Only time nikkas hear what I can do is when I drop a project n if cats ignore my tags or don't see the thread they miss out. Meanwhile im in here voting or commentating on beat threads that might go unnoticed for days.

I feel you fam, that's why i created this thread, to find a way for the tunnel family to bring it back to our glory days... All ideas are open for discussion and hopefully we can find a leg to walk back on. Cat's like DBR, Chubbs, Sincere Noble are beast on the keys, while Tek, Clanarchy and Zeus can turn a sample into a masterpiece. We gotta find an idea that'll make this work again. Hope more peeps respond with ideas

my ideas for the tunnel:

you guys got a nice group here, you should be taking advantage of that and help each other out on social media. use #thecoli hashtag or @ us on there and me and brook will likely RT you guys. tek is always RTing shyt too. turn the tunnel into a movement, help turn this place into a destination for other artists. cross promoting will help a ton.

i know theres been some projects done between the coli mcs and producers but i think there could be more. keep it simple, a quick little 6 song EP here and there

consider setting up a way to share your work collectively. a youtube page, bandcamp or something. anyplace you can promote and showcase each other is good. the tunnel is a good place to organize but honestly you guys should be thinking bigger. we can try to promote threads around the coli to get replies but honestly most of the people on here would rather play stan wars. getting traffic to improve among our existing members is definitely possible but it shouldnt be the only thing you guys are striving for. also on that note, most people on here aren't used to non mainstream shyt so we really gotta come correct with the shyt we promote or else it could do more harm than good.

in terms of competition, maybe do a sample flip one week, then just do a submit your best beat week and have a beat of the week the next, then do a theme the next week. keep it fresh.

once you guys get some shyt rolling, make sure you keep me in the loop, depending on how things go, maybe we can set up a section on the coli music page for the tunnel http://www.thecoli.com/music/

Instead of a weekly sample. I think we should just do a weekly theme. The sample flips would get boring real quick and it would cater to nikkas who specialize in that. If we get a theme running, then everybody could get involved and nobody is left out. If you don't wanna participate that week you could skip it. Like for for example one week it's a sample, next week it's some movie soundtrack type shyt, week after it's some trap, another week it's club pop sounding shyt, etc.... Just have up to like 8 producers at a time and make a poll.

I think we should also have a weekly song contest as well, so the emcees can get involved. Like who the best song over a sample or who got the best story telling song, etc..You know different themes just like the producer bracket. Nobody even has to make new songs, just post up shyt from ya catalog and get like up to 8 emcees doing it and we make a poll and vote.

I feel if we're successful with those 2 things we can eventually have a dope ass tournament where we decide which emcees and producers would make the best collabs or something in that lane. Or we could do it like cats can vote based on styles and randomly put producers with emcees and see what they come up with.

These are just simple suggestions that I feel could get this place popping.

I know some will like it and some won't, but we just throwing out ideas so it's all good.

Sample Flip of the month like the old "beat club" days

Winner picks the winner for the following month and the next sample to be used.

for those that don't sample we can also have scratch of the month that same month.

Winner of the sample flip/ Scratch of the month picks the winner of the following month and gets a lot of promo.

Spreading it out monthly like in the old days will give people ample time to compete and it shouldn't fade as fast because people will constantly be looking forward to it.

That way its a competition but also a showcase so everyone gets something from it.

another quick idea. i tried to do this in the mixtape group but it didnt really take off. i think an official contact thread would be useful to have. all the tunnel brehs could list themselves as a producer or MC(or both) and we keep a running list of everyone, what they do, links to their soundcloud or twitter. say a new rapper signs up, he could check out the list of producers and maybe find someone he wants to work with. it'd be like the gamertag threads in the arcadium except a tunnel edition
