So every 3-5 you have to purchase a new GPU to keep pace, not to mention every 5-8 you need to purchase a new CPU to maintain true parity with that GPU.
Just buy a gaming PC is a nonsensical answer for someone who isn't already an enthusiast or has use for a PC for things other than gaming.

My opinion: I'm going to wait it out. I need to see how big an upgrade it is and no disk drive is a deal breaker. If folks make it out to be a good upgrade, I'll buy it and the disk drive.
$700 is a lot, but when it includes a 2tb ssd, that's why it's so high. That added another $100.
