Listen. I just like winning artist. Cole has impressed me several times. Most notably when he kicked those Funk Flex freestyles two weeks ago.

Those were FIRE.

But dude is just a constant underperformer who is only where he is because of his Jay-Z association and people forcing themselves to be drawn to him so he can be "real hip hop" or whatever.

You like 'winning artist' but then go on to say he is an 'underperformer' who's only where he's at due to a Jay-Z association (which is BS btw). Why would you waste time constantly hating on someone who underperforms? J. Cole is obviously the antidote to the bullshyt your idol Drake puts out, so you have to continue your campaign. to the people that are saying this is hate, you're solidifying your fanboy status. i root for j.cole, and have both albums, but the was spot on. he's one of the better MCs that have come into the game in the last 5 years, but it's easy to be considered good if you look at the talent pool of the last 15. cole is boring and this write up was incredibly accurate. nobody is knocking the fact that he can spit, but the imagery has always been on the shallow end...it' one dimensional.

I agree, but I don't know about him being a narcissist. Cole's good with me and Born Sinner is a good CD. I just think he may have piqued already, and he needs to get on someone else's production. He gave his reason for liking Nas too, "it was pictures I saw." He's just not that good at describing scenery when he's not in the scene. "Thinking about close calls from long distance." He's at his best when he himself is in the rhyme. With that said, I've reached a point where I feel like certain things aren't worth arguing about in life. I get it's a message board though. But I look at my teenage cousins and a lot of them love this dude and feel him. Who am I to tell people what to be inspired by if it's in the right direction
