I put on WM 14 for reasons I don't even know why and dying at the cast of characters in the battle royal
It's 1998. LOD 2000 who are just the Road Warriors with buzz cuts instead of the interlocking mullet and fringe things. The Rock N' Roll Express. The NEW Midnight Express, being Hardcore Holly and Bart Gunn. JBL and 2 Cold Scorpio I think were a team? There are two run ins, for a fukking battle royal, within 15 seconds of each other, one of which isn't even caught on camera until it was over (It was Kurrgan pulling out whichever guy wasn't Bull Buchanan, along side Cyrus Don Callis himself, then Barry Windham sauntering into the ring to eliminate I think Chainz or some shyt). JR goes on multiple times about how he can't get over LOD's new look which again is just they grew out their hair and Animal switched to trunks.
Then, to show how seriously they took the LHW Championship, Aguila gets a fukking jobber entrance. At WM. For a title match
Why the fukk was the tag line "X-RAIDED" instead of X-Rated?
EDIT: Couple of other thoughts. Taka/Aguila is actually really solid for a WWF LHW match, probably in the top 5 along with the Taka/Great Sasuke matches, and Dean/Scotty from Backlash 2000. Not that there are a lot to even remember happening at all.
Rock/Shamrock is pretty solid too, but damn Rock's gyno was really bad at this time. I never really remembered it being that bad.
Mixed tag is wild hot and might be the best match of the show
Owen/HHH still sucks, they had zero chemistry, HHH was still dreadfully boring and working as like a 70s heel but also never stooged and never gave opponents anything to look good, and Owen was clearly not into being a face at this stage in his career. Chyna/Sarge seemed to have more chemistry and probably would have had a better match.
Foley really took some gnarly fukking bumps in the dumpster match and none of them make sense. Every bump in that match is just blatantely "let's set this up to do a big bump". Like Terry standing up a ladder a few feet from the ropes with neither NAO around so Mick can climb it to do nothing but stand there until Billy can climb it also for no reason so they can be knocked into the dumpster. But there's absolutely no reason for the ladder to be up at all in the first place
Does Terry da Gawd have the longest time between WM matches before Bret's return at 26? It's kind of wild how ancient Terry is here at 52 and yet Taker/Goldberg have been working even older, Sting is a decade older than that today, Flair was still going full time at older than that, Edge is only 3 years younger today about to headline WM than Funk was at WM 14.
