Yo I think I fell for all the revisionist bullshyt because I've been watching late 97 Nitro broadcasts and NWO was awesome. They really ran together like a streetgang with the beatdowns and all around fukkery. I think they just screwed up by not giving Sting the clean pin at Starcade and not letting WCW get enough big wins to balance shyt out. But them boys were OVER heavy.

It ain't the '97 ones that are the problem... it's when you get to around '99 and they still doin' that shyt, and now it's way less exciting to watch cause they've been doin' it for three years, broke up, got together, now Brutus Beefcake and Dusty Rhodes and Mike Rotundo and everybody's in that shyt...

You don't even have to get to 1999. shyt immediately falls off a cliff at the start of 1998. Everything had built to Sting killing the NWO at Starrcade, and then he didn't, and there was no more story. So they did the split, which went on for like 5 months but nothing really happened from week to week.

Truth is WWE has never been shyt when it's had to stand on its own with stealing talent or ideas from competition

Watching Royal Rumbles prove how far someone can come in a year or two...sometimes you'll see someone who didn't appear to be a future main event talent, and then by the following Rumble they're one of the stars of the show. The Rocky Maivia who entered the '97 Rumble did jackshyt, he was the biggest heel in the '98 Rumble. Austin was brand new in '96 and didnt even have the Stone Cold persona yet... wins the whole damn thing in '97. Cena's rap gimmick was still rough around the edges in '03, but he was one of the favorites in '04. Ziggler and Miz got tossed out their first Rumble in like 10 seconds, both were in title matches by 2011...

makes me wonder, who right now that doesn't seem to have a chance, probably gets tossed in this year's Rumble with no fanfare, but ends up super-over by the time '18 rolls around...

NWO Souled Out is one weird fukking ppv. I hadn't seen it before.

In some ways I like it....it seems pretty ahead of it's time and it's doing something genuinely different with the ppv format The entrance set up was sick. But mayne there is some awkward ass moments on this show. The whole Ms. NWO is just :mindblown:

Bischoff tonguing down some hideous meth head looking biker rat :scust::scust::scust::scust:

WHAT THE fukk

He's a legend but Ted Diabese was fukking garbage on commentary. Like embarrassingly awful.

Bubba running over Hugh Morris with a Harley :dwillhuh::why:

Straight up drizzzling shyt matches like Buff v Scotty Riggs

Eddie v Waltman was the only decent match on there but still nothing special really for a ladder match.

Bizarre show.

Wrestlers don't get over organically like Rock and Austin any more though...so in answer to your question, probably no one.

This is the same WCW that would have a full hour of unopposed air time against Raw and not only wouldn't put a single match on, but they wouldn't even have a single live shot for the whole hour. Putting HV vs Beverly Brothers against the Raw after WM (which wasn't nearly as big of deal then, to be fair) seems pretty reasonable.

Yea these 3 hour Nitros are damn near impossible to sit thru  its just a whole lot of trash. By 98' things were a complete clusterfukk, and the 3 hour format really exposed them. There are some episodes that Bret Hart are not even on at all  or he'd have a 5 minute interview spot and that would be it for him the rest of the night. this is coming off him being the hottest wrestler in the business a couple months before. Meanwhile Bischoff would have like 3 in ring segments, then you'd have Wrath, Glacier, and Horace Hogan hogging screen time :scust:..just inexcusable shyt
