This... is going to be a tough one for me.
Full disclosure, HHH in his early days was a really good wrestler. He didnt have much to work with but he would bump around really well and would have glimpses of psychology during a time where WWE werent having an abundance of good-great matches.
The Curtain Call was a huge turning point. He wasnt just a guy with a stupid gimmick anymore. He was HBK's boy. This would speak volumes throughout the rest of his career. Pre screwjob, he found himself as somewhat of a lackey to Shawn which continued through Wrestlemania after which he takes the mantle of leader of DX. This is where his rise truly begins.
DX was over. Theres no denying it. And for better or worse the Connectcut Blue Blood, the REAL Double J, the 123 Kid and Rockabilly (
) proved to be the perfect storm of late 90's closeted frat boy humor. It worked. After a fantastic feud with the Rock came the main event build.
HERE is where things fall off the rails. HHH is pushed with increasing importance each passing year since. Padded title reigns, going over on superior talents, long winded promos ever single week. All to put him on par with Austin and Rock. A height he would never truly reach in the eyes of longtime fans.
His self importance hurts him in my grade so i have to give him a 6. If he stayed in his lane he is a solid 7 or 8 overall but that endless push fukks up his overall.
