He's an 8 for me just cause of his legacy, but he could push that to a 9 depending on how these last years of his career go... he might actually have that heel run at some point now that he's in his 40's and balding.

John Cena should of been great and a stand out but he's been a shadow of a character since the second half of 2005. As fan reaction proved. His matches were fairly predictable...with a few chances taken. So complacent he has done the same promo style since 09. Has no sold to such a degree that you cant help but laugh. His last real stand out match was Summerslam 2013. The AJ matches were ultra silly. The Owens matches were a crock of bullshyt. Lacking. Not great. Circular. A million kickouts don't mean jackshyt. No memorable promos or moments. Laughable merchandise. He's no Jake the Snake, Curt Henning, Rick Rude. He's the definition of mediocrity next to Paul Lesvasque. He's supposed to be top echelon but he never proved it.

In total, Cena is a 4. Should be a 8 considering his push, company coddling, and longeitvy, but business suffered to where we now have semi empty arenas weekly. Alicia Fox is Not the only one who should be embarrassed over their legacy. John Cena should be too. The long pushed top guy who had no backbone. Disgraceful.

I feel like John Cena is the Lebron of wrestling.

- Large fanbase/hate group
- been in the game forever now however still basically top guy of the company
- jumps teams heat/cleveland cena being a free agent
- old heads love to point how easy both guys got it made and wouldn't do such and such in the 90s
- Lebron always in the finals Cena always in big time feuds
- the guys who supposed to take over (kevin durant and roman reigns) accomplishing a lot but feel like they not the guy nor respected

- Classic freestyles
- Being a heel disguised as a face for 10+ years, especially kissing Eve Torres in front of wheelchair Zack Ryder
- Classics with Punk, DB, Edge, HBK, Angle
- Burying those jobbers that deserved it and putting over those GOATs (other than Mark Henry and RuRu) that deserved it.
- The NES-inspired tee
- Exposing NY when he returned at the Rumble
- Working the Universe into a shoot. Hate him or love him, you're invested in his matches

8 :salute:

Off the top of my head

Bryan might have had the best chance if he didn't retire.

Punk is too much of a misanthrope to truly be the face of the company.

Styles would have been too old.

Cesaro? :skip:

Vince never really thought Christian was a true main event talent even though he definitely was one.

Lashley didn't want to deal with the politics.

Jeff Hardy was too unreliable.

What he has done in terms of accomplishments and longevity its 10, he's won multiple World titles, Main Evented WM a couple of times, he won the Rumble twice and he's done everything you would want from the face of a brand/company to do with the shaking hands and kissing babies (even tho he dont want none).

BUT

Mic work: Has the ability and should be a 10 considering he's been around long enough, but its more of an 7/8. Doesn't really have an classic promos outside of rapping which is over a decade ago, probably his most memorable promo is when he did the heel turn movement. And that he always has to get the last word in his promo face offs, is petty. He is good at manipulating the crowd, but when the crowd is predictable and has been for so long towards you, you should know how troll them sooner or later.

Personality/gimmicks: Gimmick is 5. Hasn't evolved and has been playing the same Cena since he won his first world title, all those years ago, only thing has changed is his outfits, but no character development.
Cena's personality screams heel, he has the smug a$$hole shtick down to a tee, its shame really that he hasnt been allowed to be his true self. (could argue he has been, hes just been presented in a different way then we've been use to. :skip:

Ring work 6. More than competent in the ring, cannot lead for shyt, but can have a good fun match if you want to ignore the psychology aspect with his Superman and non selling BS. Put him with a strong to great worker, you can get a great match out of him, but in recent times we've been getting PWG Cena when going up against *insert* made name on indies workers. Doesn't really have an all time great feud and outside of The Rock, his most high profile feud is VS Punk and even then that was more because of Punk and the pipebomb then it being because of Cena. I will give him props for the RVD ECW ONS2 match, just the whole atmosphere would of put a lot of people off, but he did thrive in that situation and didnt shyt the bed and for putting over the the 3 Indy Gods, but even then I think that was more self serving then anything else. But the one thing that keeps coming back to me with Cena's matches and go back to his matches with Brock at Extreme rules 2012, ending of the Nexus Summerslam match and the Wade Barrett match, those things are just inexcusable.

Overall rating 7. He should of done a lot more than he has done and this is a guy that has pretty much done everything apart from a lengthy/strong run as a heel and as the champion being chased. But his career while pushed and over exposed as The Guy for over a decade, doesnt have the classic promos, matches, moments as the legends and icons have. And just like his promos, his feuds/matches he has to get the last word in them also. Aside from Wade, he should really have let Umaga & Rusev go over him, which would of made them look stronger and even more legit as monsters and in the long run it would of made Cena look better when the feud came around again.

You'd think that dude would be higher, but I can't think of any truly great moments he had that were HIS moments and not him being apart of someone else's. Add on the fact that he had 4 World Title Reigns every 3 year average and that makes his lack of moments or establishing promos even more astonishing

Strong 10:banderas:

Cena is the epitome of a GOAT that folks will never admit to him being. The progression of dude from the Prototype days to old man Cena currently is a sight to see:wow:. The promos are simply:wow:compared to most of the roster nowadays. Cena made you believe that he is either the corniest dude in the world to one of the best alive. His matches were always great to tolerable, with the Johnny Ace match being the only stinker throughout his career. Bottom line, Cena will never be accepted in the top of anybodies list, but you got to give the respect CeGOAT truly deserves:mjgrin:

I'm talking about if they were in Cena's position in 02.
