I'm late as hell to this thread but here it goes.

Solid 8.

Edge is one of those wrestlers that puts the P in perseverance. Dude started out with one of the most bland gimmicks, ended up in one of the dopest fractions of all time (The Brood), being apart of one of the greatest tag teams of all time (E and C), and end up going in business for himself. Dude was a troll done right and made every feud look like money (Matt and Cena). His mic skills were lukewarm shyt to certified perfection within a decade:banderas:. It saddens me that he had to retire due to his neck being damn near a pez dispenser, but I appreciate everything that man has done throughout his career. He literally put the R in Raw:steviej:.

Mid 8 for me. Wasn't a huge fan of his, but he overachieved like crazy, and was very entertaining throughout his career. He could talk, had a good moveset (other than his shytty running hug), great identifiable themes, and was general a standout dude. he was most definitely a benefit of the brand split, as he probably would not have held all those titles if not for that, but he made everything count once he got the chance. Was an excellent heel during the as the Rated R Superstar, and was maybe the first person to legitimize Cena. Besides a lot of his tag matches with the Hardyz and Dudleyz, my favorite match from him was the SD Ladder Match from 2002. Excellent match. Rey/Edge vs Angle/Benoit was a GOAT match as well. Him shytting on Billy Gunn was a GOAT segment too. Rated R Edge with Lita is basically what a heel Seth Rollins and some valet should be. Edge latter years were pretty trash after his injury. Went from an intriguing heel to a CAW rockstar template face. Edge is cool with me even though he wasn't one of my faves. His legendary status may be inflated, but it's not like he didn't have the skills once he was handed the ball.

:mjlol::mjlol::mjlol: @ Matt Hardy being a star at that time when he fukked his own self over during that "car crash" promo. Matt Hardy COULD have been a solo star had he not became a simp and left SD for Raw to be with Lita. Dude was a fukking loser on his own for like 8 years until the Big Money Matt stuff in ROH then Broken Matt on Impact.

From 08-09, SD had Rey, Jeff Hardy, CM Punk, Shelton, MVP, Taker, Chris Jericho and John Morrsion, along with Edge. SD was lowkey good at that time. SD's shytty years were mid-04 to 2007. Agree about him have a ton of unnecessary reigns, but nothing else. The WWE in general is weak today.
Yeah, that shyt about Edge's run on top of SmackDown making it a B-show is 100% BS. SmackDown got absolutely destroyed by the '04 draft lottery and was the worst wrestling show on TV from 04-07. So bad that UPN moved it to the Friday Night Deathslot because its ratings couldn't cut it anymore. Edge going to the brand and having his feud with Undertaker brought back legitmacy.

8.

Mic work and personality were top notch. His mid 00's run as a heel was a thing of legend, he really had one of the most memorable runs as a heel in recent years, the sex show, the cash-in, the Hardy feud. One knack I'd give to him was out of 11 (:why:) WWE championship runs only two or three of them are notable. He was just given the belt after awhile and it became ridiculous, wasn't it an injury bug to other stars why he kept winning it? :jbhmm: Wrestling wise he was mid. He kinda reminds me of The Miz, great on the mic, overachieved with a trash moveset.

Oh and he had some great themes. His OG, the Rob Zombie theme and of course the all timer, Metalingus

Me trying to hit that high note as a teen

:blessed:
A good chunk of Edge's title reigns came durng that period in late 08-09 where WWE was switching the world title around at Russo-like proportions. It was fukking ridiculous. Cena, Orton, and Edge all have inflated title reign numbers because of that era.

I mean for Christ's sake, Edge lost the SD title and then won the Raw title the same night :mjlol:
They had Orton drop the belt to Batista knowing that Dave needed surgery and was gonna be out for a few months, and then vacated it the next day just to pop a rating ::why:

Wooooow I remember every single one of those matches except for Edge vs Benoit on SD :russ: I remember them facing each other during tag matches in 2002 on SD, and as tag champs either in 04 or 05 on Raw, but them in 07 is completely erased from my memory

I normally have no problem watching Benoit matches but anything after Eddie passed makes me uncomfortable

Please explain, I really dont understand how any of that has anything to do with you. I dont understand this process because even still i can separate the man from his work.

I can see where he's coming from, just cause I have only started recently watching Benoit matches (like around 2013). It's just eerie watching his matches, as a lot of them were so brutal, full on chair shots to the head, knowing that's that was a huge reason for those murders.

-Mic work/promos: 8. Comedy heel shyt as E&C or cocky chicken shyt heel as Rated-R Superstar, he was always good.

-Personality/gimmicks: 8. I liked the cool & mysterious Edge when he debuted. I seem to recall he was a regular fixture on Sunday Night Heat in '98 and '99 and I felt he helped give that show the youthful fresh vibe they were going for. The Brood stuff was a waste of time, but the E&C comedy heel stuff was very entertaining and once he became the Rated-R Superstar, he had evolved into one of the best heels of his era.

-Ring work (along with some of your favorite matches/feuds): 7. Not a technical master, but he worked the "WWE style" well. He worked well with all styles: brawlers, high-flyers, mat technicians.

Best solo feuds and matches: Cena, Jericho, Flair (TLC match on Raw), Matt Hardy (the matches were meh, but the feud was hot), Kurt Angle, Jeff Hardy, Mick Foley, RVD

-Overall rating (which doesn't have to be an average of the above scores: 8.
