5.

I didn't watch him past WWF, so I'm only judging him for his work there.

From the Nation up till SummerSlam 1999, he looked to be a good prospect that could maybe do some good things higher up the card. Him and Mark Henry were entertaining as a duo. He was trending upwards. Then they split him and Mark up for really no reason at all. Then the Droz thing happened, and everything just trended downward. Tagging with Mosh? :scusthov:

He didn't have any awful matches I remember, but I don't remember any great ones either. I remember liking his match with Jeff Jarrett at SummerSlam till Mark Henry turned on him, but I haven't seen it in forever.

So all in all, I'm giving him a 5 (average).

He had some good matches with Val Venis and X-Pac. I'll try to post those matches sometime this week.

I remember one of those Val Venis matches and yeah it was good. His best run was during the Russo-era which really de-emphasized wrestling, so it sucks that he probably never got to really show out during his career peak.

I think you better recognize, I think... I think... :banderas:

The Lo Down and Sky High was one of the GOAT finisher/turnbuckle combos. Guys like him were underrated mat workers in an era based on gimmicks and fukkery before Y2J/Radicalz/Angle came around. I don't know what else to write that hasn't been said, but I'd say giving him a 6 is fair.

I'll give him a 7. My dad use to love dude  he was a good worker and was athletic as hell for his size. I think his finishing moves were dope. The definition of a solid lower/midcarder that the fans loved. I think we all did his ring strut growing up lol. off the top of my head, I remember him being in a good 8-10 minute triple threat match at Armageddon 99' with Val Venis and Bulldog..I don't think he ever truly got the opportunity to show what he could REALLY do in the ring. I listened to a few Cornette shoots recently and he thinks the world of D'lo and he hates everybody and EVERYTHING :russ: that says something about the kind of guy he is/was.

-Mic work/promos - 6

I don't really remember any promos by him off the top minus a vignette he did in the U.K. on like an Insurrection or something while he was Euro champion. Can't rate him higher or lower on this category since I don't really have much to go off of. 5 seems harsh but's 7 too high so :yeshrug:

-Personality/gimmicks - 7

He had such swag (that walk with the head bob:wow:) and his theme was cold. The chest protector deal was a great gimmick and added to his finish. After 99 I don't remember much by him minus a mini tag run with Godfather and that disastrous Lo Down team. Seen his work here and there post WWF/E in TNA and his later WWE return, not enough to really say much about. His Aces & Eights run was whatever because the group itself was pretty lame minus a good concept and a solid start.

-Ring work (along with some of your favorite matches/feuds) 7

I can't say for sure feuds I enjoyed but I remember his matches with guys like X-Pac and Val Venis being enjoyable and him just overall being entertaining. The Lo Down and the Sky High were cool finishers. He had a cool look and way about him.

-Overall rating (which doesn't have to be an average of the above scores) - 7

He's a sentimental favorite of mine and a fun part of the Attitude era to rewatch. One of the bright spots of the pre Radicalz/Angle/Jericho, Russo written mid card which was really a quagmire of talent at that point. The fact that we can talk about him fondly all these years later despite him never really reaching his full potential imo says volumes about him. If the landscape of the company hadn't changed so drastically and quickly, and the Droz accident not happened I think he'd have had more longevity and we'd have more to talk about here. I think 7 might be a tad high but I don't think I wanna put him at a 6 so I'll leave him at 7.

Personal favorite of mine. Personal faves are usually different cause they probably wouldn't be guys you put on all time lists, but I very much enjoyed him. I was a massive Nation fan, so I loved out he was able to develop his character in that group, then break out from there. The head-bobbing, the chest-protector, the variant Rock themes along with his eventual solos, and the high-flying moveset for a fairly big guy all made him one of the coolest dudes in that era. I don't know if he has any classics, but he was in a lot of entertaining matches during the "Gang War" phase, along with Val Venis and X-Pac. A lot of his most entertaining matches were Nation/DX related. Him winning the European title from HHH and saying "I'm the Champion of Europe" was :russ::blessed:. As far as mic skills, he was alright, nothing special, but definitely didn't embarrass himself. He was always great at playing off other people. I'm sure he didn't have classic promos, but cool and hilarious segments with the Nation and later on with Mark Henry when they pretty much split off from the Nation. Those segments of D'Lo trying to help Mark Henry lose weight were very funny. He had a nice hot run that was unfortunately cut short once Russo left, and when The Radicalz came in. He (and some other WWF mid-carders at the time) could have really benefited from feuds with them, but it just didn't happen for some reason. Pretty much got lost in the shuffle. Didn;t care to see him as a pimp teaming with the Godfather. That just wasn't him, he mentioned that himself. Him and Chaz also formed an alright tag team, even having matching gear and a tandem finisher, but I never felt like they'd go anywhere.:scust:at pairing him and Chaz with Tiger Ali Singh, then throwing them in turbans. 02-04 wasn't much better, facing HHH in a silly blindfold match, being 3 Minute Warning fodder in a match with Planet Staziak, and beat up by Rodney Mack to end that WWE stint. I liked seeing him in TNA, as he put on good matches with AJ Styles (:sas1:), and as much I was hyped when D'Lo returned to the WWE, they had no idea what to do with him other than "Hey it's D'Lo Brown, he was from the Attitude Era". The crowd response was so weak, and they made him look like a jerk in segments with Santino Marella. Dude was in great shape at that time, and they had nothing for him. Lukewarm way to go out. *ignores Aces & Eights tenure* Will give him a 7 overall. He was very interesting from 97-99, and showed great development during that time. He was apart of the hottest era in wrestling, and a very hot character himself. Peep his crowd responses during matches then. He was legit.

See I stopped watch big wrestling in 00'. But yeah u are spot on with this.

I'm not even one of those race in every thread people, but D'lo was wayyyy better than they allowed him to be.

Nation Of Fun
D'Lo very underrated to me. Great mid card wrestler and champ. The EuroContinental champion was fun while it lasted. I loved his moveset as he could fly around but had high impact moves that looked good. Made the frog splash his own with that variation and was always a character who was entertaining when he was on TV or a mic. I gave him a 7 because I think he is above average comfortably but seeing what other wrestlers who had better careers got, 7 seems like a safe spot. He was a great part of the attitude era and whenever he had interactions with people or wrestlers, it was entertaining and I thought he was really good in the ring with punches and reactions.

He's a 5. D`lo brown was a nice piece in the midcard scene and a part of one of the most memorable groups in 90s wrestling.

His career doesn't warrant anything above that rating tho. He wasn't a big time player and he never really played around in the main scene even on a billy gunn/test level:yeshrug:.

He had a nice moveset on the WWF smackdown! Game tho:ehh:
